@MPCWeapon
This Torque is stupid along with Ren Vox.

Yo demo Ren Vox and put it on your kick and snare. Raise the threshold all the way up. Tell me what you think after you rock it in the MPC live

Great plugs indeed, especially for drums... I picked them up a few months back when FOCUS did that video for waves... As for SSL stuff I feel like the Audio Acustica, Brainworx and UAD emulations blow everything else out of the water.. Another nice one is the RX950...

That's a funny way of thinking. Plug-ins are largely responsible for a lot of the engineering these days.
Gone are the days when plugins sounded weak.

Anyone who works with hardware regularly knows plugins still cant compete, this is why we like mpcs, why not use abelton or fruity loops if that is your mindset. plug in companies stick a picture of the hardware on their gui and pay for a license but it dont sound anywhere like the real thing and the companies making free plug ins are on par with the expensive licensed ones, seems like a waste of money to me.if the comp that comes with reaper can do any of those emulations if you dial it in right it just doesnt have a pretty picture on it.

Raw but clean sampling with alive sound.Cant recommend this route more imo.The SP FX help too.

Have you noticed that running anything through the SP-404, particularly the Lo-Fi effect ends up killing a lot of the low end on samples? I found that running sh*t through my SP-404 made my beats sound thinner which had me stop using it other than for running my S1000 synth patches through it for a makeshift effects box.

I hear that. Api hardware is dope but some of the most respected companies like Waves, UAD, Sound Toys and SSL etc in the software range are great in 2018 and beyond. I've always loved waves stuff and other companies. I love hardware also but chose to go ITB.

Like Fanu said things are looking really good these days.

Software can get the job done and cheaper than hardware.

Funny I just coped Waves CLA-Vocals, Waves dropped it to $29 LOL  I am freaking loving this LOL That is a hellava piece to have for vocals along with the CLA-Effects! Crazy!

Peace

If it sounds right, it is right.
I do all my mixing and mastering 100% with (a lot of analog emulation) plugins and my clients love it and no-one ever complains. That pays for my living. I work with so much stuff, I couldn't do it with hardware as I need recalls and need to work fast in order not to drown under the workpile (couldn't wait for five days for a client to get back to me while there'd be work in the queue and I couldn't touch settings).

I've even had dudes come to me like "So do you do analog mastering?" and I know they mean hardware mastering and they say that's what they want. I do my thing and they're happy. Software sound is totally on equal level with hardware. Anyone who thinks differently just hasn't used the right tools or don't know how to use them.
The 100% hardware guys are mostly dudes who want to do it for the tangible workflow, but there's no reason anymore other than that why you couldn't use software anymore.
It's 2018, not 2008 anymore.

 Dammit! Man I know that joint is hot! I wanna get that and use it on my female vocals voice on her voice and a male singer. I just got a few projects thrown my way. I might have to jump out the window and just get it for $100, not that bad for that, but dam $29 dollars, aaawwwwwwhhhhhh :WTF: I missed it and I can't play around and wait. Dang. That Gate is sick keeps anything between nice and clean. But I use strip silence for vocals, and now I got that R-Vox drums are sounding tight and punchy.

I hear ya about the hardware, won't argue that they sound great. I was like you years back but software is very dam near close to hardware these days. Shootouts have been tested and Pros couldn't tell which was which. It's all about the person behind the software working it. That's like saying Tony Masarati who uses lots of plugins on songs, and he has no problem. He uses both though.

Peace.
