Ah, thanks. Curious how this would legally differ from sampling hardware (808s, say; obviously the original sounds there are generated electronically rather than sample based though).

If it's the acoustic samples they tend to worry about rather than electronic, actually most of the JD kits are the latter (606, 626, 727, CR78 etc).

Your own 808 pack (from original hardware, i think) does a great job of some of them already!

If you are selling the native sounds and using their trademark. You may run into issues, once you've sold lots of them. But most of the time, it's not worth the lawyer fee to do it. That's why those sounds are everywhere and I know people are not paying a license fee. However, if they do start going after people. They will go after the big site with the most violations first.

However, if you tweak, manipulate, mangle the sounds, sample it, and create your own name. (Just don't state the source material.) There isn't much they can do. The ironic thing is, you can sale original sample loops packs from these machine. Because loops are considered a performance/song/original composition in themselves.

Akai Pro knew what they were doing, when they offered this Utility in this update.

If I did it, I wouldn't look to sell them anyway. I did one for TAL's Bassline 101 which I linked to here... I did check with Patrick at TAL first though. (Although this was a good example of one of the poorly looped packs that Andy was talking about...!)

Yeah, bass sounds you have to clean up the loop points, to make sure they're are seamless. I'm interested in how much more, they will flush out the auto sampler.

One of my favorite features of JJOS is cross fade loop with zero crossing.

Please Akai add a waveform gui like JJOS. The trial and error with sample numbers is too time consuming.

Sometimes you have to throw out random things. People are extra serious. We compose music, create art, push our creative minds. It's suppose to be FUN! I bet going to some of these people studios, is like being locked up in a dungeon.

I will play here, and in the big studio, but with the artist, we will have fun, but can't have people around that don't belong, takes away from the musical space and there will be to much interference.

So we need:
1. Gross beat
2. JJOS cross fade with zero cross fading.

Im holding out until the weekend finishing up a long drawn out project.. dont want and hiccups..lol

can anybody confirm that you can't use auto-sampler to sample Kontakt instruments? I've tried two instruments so far, one a Native instruments, and the other a third party. I can see NI protecting there content like this.

Im wondering if I'm missing a step, although I did have sucess sampling some Play instruments.

I'm out for a few hours, but I will try when I get home. I bought Spitfire Tundra Kontakt library a while ago, and it's cool enough without the heavy Kontakt scripting to use auto sampled into the MPC so it's a good candidate. At the very least you should be able to host it in another DAW and sample it like a hardware instrument using virtual MIDI and audio ports etc.
