I'm gonna be saving pgm data to an MPC 500 in the Flash ROM. A while back I was able to find a thread on this forum about how to delete the factory data and save your own data, but I haven't been able to search and find this today.

Anybody have a link? I seem to remember you have to cut the power of the mpc at 90% of a save something something not sure.

MPC500 options:
Formatting the CF Card:
2. Scroll the wheel all the way to the right.
3. Press 12 LEVELS/DO IT, you're done.

Deleting everything off the Internal memory:
2. Scroll the wheel 6 steps to the right, it should say
"SAVE:To internal/All sq&song|pg&smpl"
3. Press 12 LEVELS/DO IT twice.
4. Something will pop up saying "Replace memory/Press REC bttn", press the REC/Record button.
5. When it's done erasing the flash at 100% TURN THE MACHINE OFF ASAP!, then you're done.

Connecting the CF card reader on your MPC500 to the PC:
2. Scroll the wheel 2 steps to the right until it says [USB :] on the screen.
3. If you have your USB cord connected to the MPC and PC it will open up a new drive displayed in My Computer. Done.

Purging/deleting samples you didn't enable on any pads off your CF card:
2. Scroll the wheel all the way to the right.
3. It will say "Purge unused/Press DO IT"
4. Press 12 LEVELS/DO IT. You're done.

That's all you'll need to know I guess, besides learning how to play the damn thing. RTFM BTW FTW!

The factory reset function doesn't seem to work for me for a few others that I've read in some other threads.

A hack to it which I haven't seen any downside to is:
1. Save your programs and samples to internal memory

2. When it reaches 100% showing deleting flash memory, turn the unit off immediately.

3. This will wipe the internal preset but not save anything to the internal Flash.
