Share your knowledge on these two classic MPCs

Hey all, hopefully this isn't a weird question. I'm starting to save up money for a 3k or 3kle (currently have a 2k and 2kxl), and I was just wondering what people had actually paid for their MPC 3000s. I see asking prices that I have a hard time imagining are realistic. So if you're comfortable sharing, I'd appreciate any insight people might have!

2 years ago I paid $1200 for a trashed 3000LE with OS3.11, floppy, VGA, broken note variation slider, missing buttons, bad tact switches and dead screen backlight but I fixed and modded all of it for another $350...
$40 for personalized Vailixi OS 3.5 chips
$48 for Artmix/Stratos Technology internal SCSI conversion kit
$110 for Kanamit_MPC blue LED screen
$25 for 57 new tact switches
$40 for new black buttons
$25 for 2 red record & overdub buttons
$65 for SCSI2SD card reader
$0 for blue LEDs, red thick pads, black aluminum data entry knob and new note variation slider (leftover parts from other MPCs)

The MPC3000 are now going for $2000+ and the LE are going for $3200+ on eBay. It's ridiculous!

Little over a week ago paid $700 on eBay for a 3k classic with the “all lights, no display” problem with Valixi chips installed, and a description claiming that everything worked before that problem, but also sold “as-is.” Pretty clean unit visually.

Turned out the Valixi EPROMs were installed backwards (deliberately?) and the MPC had three dead pads, a floppy drive that doesn’t work, and needed a new backlight. I the process of waiting for stuff to come in the mail to fix said problems, not clear if other things will reveal themselves like a blown SCSI fuse etc.

Backlight from eBay for around $10
Pad Sensors from MPC Stuff for $56.10
Teac floppy drive for $20 or so

If it all works out I would have paid around $800 for the thing, but I had an eBay save-search running for a few weeks before I jumped on that one.
