Here's an Apocryphal Story.
Young Composer: "Herr Mozart, I am thinking of writing a symphony. How should I get started?"
Mozart: "A symphony is a very complex musical form and you are still young. Perhaps you should start with something simpler, like a concerto."
Young Composer: "But Herr Mozart, you were writing symphonies when you were 8 years old."
Mozart: "Yes, but I never asked anyone how."
LESSON:
Stop asking and do it. Buy whatever gear you want, make tons of mistake, and keep going. Music is and will never be perfect. It's always changing and moving forward. Either you move forward or you don't.

dunkeyman wrote:Thanks man. All this stuff is just frying my brain right now. I got a guy I kinda know in real life who is telling me the MPC2000XL isn't really a "sampler", it's a "sequencer" and I will also need something like an Ensoniq ASR-10, which is a sampler. My head is pounding! lol
