Q: Sampling external synth with sequenced from Live...

Hi there,

i try to find a easy way to sample external synth which I sequence from Live. I'd like to sample it with length of sequence. Something like in Ableton -> 4 bars seq = 4 bars sample. I think it is simple, but I can't find the right way to do this.

Now i do this with manual cuting, but this is not the way i like to do Do you know a simpler way?

Autosampler is the Easiest way. You just have to set the Parameters

Autosampler works, but it doesn't sample sequences from live, only notes.

Something other than recording the part and exporting to sample?

I thought you said you Sequenced it from within the Live. The Sequence is already saved, providing you saved the Project.

Im not sure if this is helps but this is one way of multiple workflows I use:

I have my Computer Audio running into my Akai EiE Pro interface then into Input 3/4 of my X. So whatever plays on Computer, runs thru the X.

I'll set, lets say, Track 17 as my Midi Out Channel 1...going into, lets say, FL Studio first channel...lets say a VST Instrument Channel 1
That way...whatever I sequence on Track 17 will trigger the 1st channel in FL Studio.

This way, I have the flexibility to sample individual sounds, record the Bars to an Audio Track within the X, Or Chop & Re-Sequence the Audio In.

Its like I Use FL Studio as Virtual Rack of Synths(vsti's). Unlimited Racks lol.

Next time, what 40beatz said heh. Just record it to an audio track in the sequence (your track can only be as long as the sequence anyways), then use the Live to make that a sample. It'll be perfectly synced (as well as the Live can HAH) and easy as hell.

Not sure where the buttons are on the hardware but in the software theres all these little menus in the corners of a bunch of things and right next to both Track and Program in the 'Inspector' on the left, you have the option to bounce a track or program as a new sample.

Not sure about what samples you talk about. I use the Audio track capability - this way the sample starts and ends with the sequence - by default, but can be changed.
I do this very often, especial with my Virus Ti, and I do not need to correct anything, but the effect section (if required) and the volume of the sample or track.

But I use a mixing desk for this:
- record the Virus on a MIDI track and premix the Virus sound engine until it suits
- mute all instruments/microphons on the mixing desk - except the Virus
- setup MPCX with correct parameters (measurement is usually set to OFF, as I like the "little off the beat" the Virus is doing often on purpose to give it a little analogue touch)
- arm the Audio track and run the MIDI sequence to be recorded as audio data. (Tip: don't forget to name the Audio track according to the input - e.g. in my example: "VIRUS - Naught Space Beast" - else you might forget what incredible good sound you've used when you recorded it)
