Exchange tips and tricks for the Akai MPC4000
By Braca7 Fri Aug 23, 2019 10:23 am
Hello guys,

I hope you can help me out... I'm trying to find someone in the UK who can do a general service to a MPC 4000 (nothing is broken, just general maintenance) and customise it... (Black out button set, all black controls, new display, black paint job).

Anyone around who can do this job?

Thank you so much!

I'm in Newmarket, Suffolk and can do it (minus the painting black). But to save money, you can easily do the mods.
Become one with your 4000. lol

I have a mpc4k with the blank screen issue.
On ebay there is a man selling led display. Will it fix the problem for sure, if I bought this screen or there can be another problem causing this issue?
Thanks a lot

I'd go the free route and take the 4000 apart to check all internal connections are connected.

I have used Jazzcat few years back with 4000 black screen issue. He said we need a new screen so I paid him £200, he replaced it and it didn't work. He couldn't find the issue. In the end he asked for another £70 for his time spend. I have found a guy called Steve based in Cambridge and within few days he brought LCD screen back to life. The issue was a tiny transistor. He replaced it and everything works perfectly few years after. So black screen is not always a screen issue it might be something else.
