This is coming along very well and I like the honest interactions approach. I'm await to hear and read more about the technical capabilities of the instrument. Here are a couple starter questions I have.

Do all the button send MIDI?
Do the faders send MIDI?
How is the timing?
Does the sequencer drift?
What's the PPQ? (Pulses per quarter note.)
How much usable RAM?
What type of effects are included?
How many effects are assignable?
Will the effects run on their own card?
Does it have cascade function for connecting two units?
What's the polyphony?
What's the sample and bit rate?
What file format does it accept?
Can you import older SP12 and SP1200 files?
Does it send audio over USB? If how many channels at once?

Yeah, that will be a highly used feature for many people I'm betting.

Definitely needs a jogwheel. Looks tedious trimming by tapping a button.

I always thought the SP-1200 ring was a myth, but hearing the two compared in the video, I can hear that legendary sound. The SP-2400 does not have this ring although both almost sounds identical.

On the SP 1200 you use the fader to trim the sample. The number shows on the screen, however I don't think the software is fully done. So chances are he was trimming by ear.

The Ring is from the Aliasing, when pitching down the sample. The SP 1200 does not have fine tuning. However, for me it's hard to tell, like @LAMPDOG said, due to the Youtube compression. Also in a blind test, no one could tell.

The one thing that bugged me about the original SP 1200, not the 1994 re-issue. Was the heat and the power supply issues. :Sigh:
