Is the MPC LIVE durable ? especially the touchscreen -->

I've got the 1k and the Live, and I feel like the Live has been quite durable. My 1k required a lot of mods such as pad swap out, new os, memory upgrade, and repairs to the CF slot. This was all done over the course of a few years, so didn't hurt, but looking back on it I wish it was unnecessary.

The Live on the other hand, has been consistently solid (for me). I'd say besides adding an internal storage, the last couple of years with Akai driven updates has left me quite satisfied. Sure I'd love to see new features, but I'm quite happy with the device and what I can get out of it as is.

Mine has travelled around South America, north America and most of Europe and it even got dropped at one point (inside my back-pack) from the up above luggage rack of a bus and it just got a barely noticeable dent in the back plate.

I was never a fan of the pointy corners and wished it was a little rounded like the 500, but it's held up perfectly well over a couple of years. Personally I wouldn't bother with a $300 extended warranty.

Extended Warranties are basically this: the company offering it is gambling with you that nothing will go wrong. Think about that. They are willing to do this because they are reasonably certain the things covered by their warranty will NOT go wrong, or they wouldn't offer it in the first place, because they DO NOT WANT TO PAY YOU. Paying you means they lose money. It's a business decision on their part.
