What is the sample rate of your samples?
Put them in a computer, check the properties.

What sample rate does the 2k/2kxl accept?
Check the back of the manual somewhere.
Manual can be found here also. MPC resources up top.

I've had that problem before with longer samples but I can't remember the cause of it.
Maybe sample rate was the issue like Lamp stated.

A usb floppy drive plugged into computer, mpc floppy inserted into the usb floppy drive on the computer, this can get bad really quick depending on a few things (I've gone down this route before and I know exactly the bad things that can happen if you aren't paying attention and don't follow some rules that have been laid out in the forums many many times in past years.

No cable.

Did you format your floppy in MPC or computer via FAT?
Do you have filenames on the floppy longer than 8 characters?
Did you sample into mpc and save these sounds to floppy?
Do you have a usb floppy drive to connect to computer?
Do you have a MAC or PC? (yes, this matters).

That specific floppy drive from Amazon can work and it has great review ratings.
The Mac's OS stores weird ghost files onto removable media... floppies, CF cards, thumb drives.
