PDC is a totally different game though. I dont EVER see Akai push the software other than a footnote to go along with the MPC's themselves. Does the Live need it? I haven't really noticed anything and Ive loaded up plugins on this thing like there's no tomorrow. The software is **** horrible though, but I would think they would only mention that when they decided its time to concentrate on just the software. They've got enough to keep it up to date with whatever features they're giving the hardware. PDC is going to be the last thing anything in the MPC line ever gets if they do decide to do it. They cant keep pushing that software as a mixing solution though if they dont. They need PDC AND they still need to work on their plugin implementation in general so it actually just works with stuff other than the Akai/AIR bundle.

True. Analog Lab 3 is the only plug that will open in the software. Smh
I don't mess with the software.

Yes yes yes,
I am super hyped for the new mpc.

Had the live when it was very new on the market with an early firmware. Sold it, got an electribe (which wasn't really powerful and muted notes when too much was going on), sold it, got an iPad with beatmaker 3 for making music but that software crashed waay too often.

I often thought the live was the best I ever had for making music, so I am definetly getting the new mpc, super hyped.

Not much clip talk, Ableton, MPC software, or computer integrations. Would be nice they touched more on the advance settings. Ethernet, Recording levels, Mixer, MIDI learn, or watering plants. I wonder why they excluded arrow buttons and functions button under the screen? Also is it possible to navigate the machine without touching the screen?

The Studio Black would've been a great template for the MPC ONE button layout.

Studio Black: 1.55" x 11.2" x 10.1" or 39.4 x 284 x 257 mm
MPC ONE: 10.7” x 10.7” x 2.1” or 272 x 272 x 53 mm

True.

I don’t see the desktop MPC software ever truly being a contender for anything, it’s just a horrible experience compared to any and all other DAW out there, IMHO. I rarely use it hence the reason I don’t really need or care about PDC. I’m more focused on using my Live in standalone (hence my desire for disc streaming & more features in standalone).

The only time I use the desktop software is to load an instance into Reason or Studio One to finish up stuff.

You are right I could buy the live again, but one of the many things I didn't like back then that there weren't enough buttons and you had to do everything via the touchscreen, so I really don't mind the additional buttons on the new one^^

I had it before the shortcut where you press menu(?) and the pad to go where you want to go in the main menu, before the synth, the new fx, before the autosample and everything nice that was added afterwards... I really was mad that I sold it sitting in front of the elecribe and ios^^

@Elstebanno

Just buy it again.
Now you can jump everywhere with menu+pad and use qlinks to edit.
Air synths are a nice bonus, they do sound good and Air fx are top quality.
A used one goes around 700 euros here in Europe.

The extra 'mode' buttons are decent to have, but the 'MENU + pad' shortcuts work just as well (remember half the button functions on the One still require shift, so still two buttons pressed). Would have been nice to see the 4-way cursors in there somewhere, there's still plenty of room to jiggle stuff about. That should take away the need for the touchscreen to select parameters (although that doesn't bother me at all TBH).

Seems that Akai should perhaps allow for button functions to be customised (for all models), I assume this can be done via the firmware.

JeriKo Jackson wrote:I unapologetically want the MPC the way I want it :fku: but you are absolutely right. But this also goes to show this is another market share grab, which, may or may not be a good thing. There is frustration seeing yet another hardware device released when they have not implemented things into the software, firmware and workflow that should have been by now. This makes me question whether they are trying to make bank on what they have established, knowing they can't push the OS much further, OR if they are getting these units out BEFORE a full software revision for OS3.

Hoping it's the latter.
Aren't they all market share grabs?

It's good IMO because the format hasn't changed and the line will continue to receive development. So we'll get features we've been asking for. With the marketing being standalone centric, who knows if they will address the software?

IMO, the software gets ignored because so many proudly boast they're standalone only. When I was using the software and suggesting improvements, some told me to go back to my DAW. How many folks here say they never even installed or used the software? How many claim that's what these MPCs were made for, standalone? They're simply responding to their customers.

We shall see what happens with this MPC
Ha! I wondered why you created a 2nd thread.

Good things, hopefully, as the entire line will benefit.

Danoc wrote:...What is more important? Disk streaming or PDC?
Depends who you are. If you use the software & have 3rd party effect plugins, I suspect you want PDC. Standalone, you want disk streaming.

I dig the Studio layout and almost got it over the Touch at the time. I think the bigger screen didn't allow them to copy the format. I think they did a good job except giving the qlink button all that space. The branding is given too much space as well. And some want the qlinks on the other side of the screen.

Far as the MPC Software...It needs to be around a lil bit longer to get better.

Reason, FL Studio, Abelton, etc.....been around for 15-20+yrs. They had time to develop their software.

Akai Software started...when...2012 or something.

Others: Will buy it because it looks good on their wood table and with their potted plant.

I want to be offended, but I'm not (I don't squarely fit any of these) so this is actually kind of funny.
I thought about it for YT purposes, but understand that it won't benefit my long term strategy as a bump in a road to show tech that isn't really new.
I thought about adding it the collection of stuff I have, but I already have too much and am going through downsizing.
I love being part of the conversation, though there isn't much here to talk about.
I don't think a professional will buy it to make money on it, it serves no function to them, hell it serves no real function to me and I'm between hobbyist/pro (making little money here, trying to grow my business)

But I don't see anything wrong here (except the battery part, battery us GOOD for some of us, especially those with little kids who need to relocate to have the peace they need to work)
