Could we talk about the new MPC one?

Support and discussion for all of Akai’s modern standalone MPCs including the MPC X / X SE, MPC Live 1, 2 & 3, MPC One / One+, MPC Key 37/61.

who gives a shit how it is connected... the MV-8000 hard drive was connected via IDE and could do it.... the sp-808 did it right to a zip disk... how is USB 3.0 considered a bottleneck?

Man I don't know.
I am really not expert but there is a long discussion about that on this forum.
My experience is that even a very limited sp404 had sd streaming, so I was quite confused about that discussion.

Regarding the SD Card size: Don't forget that the MPC One/Live/X also has a USB port(s) on the back, so if you don't mind something hanging off of it, you could always add a USB HD/SSD in an external enclosure to be your main source of saving projects/samples/kits/etc. I've got a couple of 1TB hard disks that I put in USB enclosures that I use as needed for computer/music gear.

Lol...Somebody cared about how it was connected or it wouldn't have been mentioned. Roland and Akai are Two Different Manufacturers!

Somebody Tampon fell out lol

Im the one who believes the Multi In is "BottleNecking". But that was whole different subject probably on another Topic :lol:

Far as Disk Streaming...I can only see that useful in a Live Performance Environment

They get disk streaming and you know what's coming next. Why can't I stream 100, 5 minutes tracks of audio. I have this 15 minutes set and its crucial I have this feature. :lol:

What enclosure are you using?


Just a couple of cheap $30 USB 2.0 Insignia enclosures from Best Buy. When I upgraded my Late 2012 Mac Mini and PS4 Pro's internal hard drives last summer with Samsung 860 EVO 1TB SSDs, I was left with 2 spare 2.5" HDDs that I figured I could repurpose by buying enclosures and reformatting. Actually used one just last night to restore my MPC X's internal factory contents (MPC Clips, Essential Instruments 2, The Vault 2, Demo styles) to try to fix some stability issues I was having. It only took 2-3 minutes to copy 11.39 GB (14,796 files) from the Mac to the USB HD, and 33 minutes to restore to the MPC X.

So I just picked on of these up at guitar center and, even though I'm not big on pre-loaded content, I gotta say that the installed library is super anemic. What's more that exclusive f9 essential instruments keygroup collection is nowhere to be found (and apparently no longer advertised as a feature on the akai site). Thought that was pretty lame....

The MPC is USB all throughout, there's not a single bit of SATA I/O anywhere on the SOC. Its all USB 2.0 inside. But they could do it with ATA33/66/133 drives, even my old ass EMU can stream sound sprints from the IDE drive, they should be able to do it over USB 2. I still don't see why people need it though. Its a sampler/sequencer, its not a CD player.
