People ask for disk streaming because they don't do music. They just download splice loops and put a bunch of them together. Sure it can be handy but how somebody, even in a live scenario, can't pull put a live set with 53 min of stereo? If they play in a club they don't need stereo stuff right? So let's say they have 1h and 30 mins of sample. If you use drum program and keygroup for bass how they can run out of RAM?
What they do is a dj set no a live set, so why even bother with the MPC instead of getting a dj conteoller? Because it looks cool, that's all.

I saw a post of a guy shocked when he realised the MPC has 2 gb of RAM, he was doing live set on an Electribe with few mb. Often I think somebody complain and because of that no life people do the same just to have a meaning in their life. I strongly believe they're not doing music atm

For the first time I see people selling Mpc Live used for 500€.
People starting complaining about Live size, they say they don't need outputs and prefer smaller pads.
Ahah.
It's interesting to see how many people get enchanted by the new and don't realize Mpc Live is just better then One, in terms of features.
So we come to the point you can get a better Mpc paying 200€ less then a new One with less outputs and smaller pads.
Well, perfect time to buy an used Mpc Live.

:WTF: :Sigh:

Counterpoint: people ask for disk streaming because they want more features on a platform that they enjoy producing music on, and disc streaming may open up a world of possibilities via a simple software update - likely for free. You're welcome to strongly believe whatever you want, but dismissing feature requests on the notion that you think people requesting them aren't actually making music seems a bit disingenuous at the most, or misplaced in the least.

If you’re a finger drummer or even just laying grooves you don’t need that much to do a show. Years ago I would do 1/2 hour sets with a bout 5 or so programs loaded. I’m no fingerdrummer, I would use a kaoss pad if I needed to loop stuff. Also had a friend playing synths at times but it didn’t take up much space at all. Quite fun and really dope to hear your gear on dope sound systems.

I guess you might want to launch something to transition from the guy ahead of you but that’s what 30 sec, maybe a minute tops....

I can see the argument alittle more with the force, but the same principles still apply. You have a mpc, a 404, and kaoss pad all in one machine now.... although it is centered around the clip launching djs as well.

You can just get something to fill the 30 seconds of loading time and the problem, if it's a problem, is solved.
I also used a Kaosspad 3 to sample on the fly, later a minikp as a wav player with my own field recordings, now an Mc101.
I also made that when I was using computer.

I see pro with old crappy stuff making hits and I see noobs with all the new gear complaining about it.
People sell the Live because it's too big now, they don't care about the outputs and they like smaller pads just because it's new. Why do you think a lot of companies don't listen to their users? Because they're just a bunch of nerdy noobs who don't even make music, people ask especially for a live scenario. Well mate I go to a lot of events and I don't see all this different sounds in a live set, the majority of them are simple and they use Ableton. The same people complain about polyrhythm on a drum machine but then 1% of the users might use every now and then.

You know what I don't get it. They did live set with much less powerful gear and I'm talking about top of the line musicians, how that hell these people can't make a decent live set with a much more powerful device for few thousands people on a small events? I can carry on forever with example my point is why complain? You want disk streaming? Get a machine that does that! Honestly if I'm a company and I got a vision and the only things people ask are the same things over and over I will care less to give you a good product. Try to understand what Akai has in mind with their products and if you like it push what's there, otherwise buy something else. If I follow these people idea we couldn't have probably 90% of the iconic gear we have. Overall the only iconic gear we had in the last years is the Octatrack right? That product doesn't listen to anyone, it impose his workflow to people. People went deep into and they come up with new workflows, something completely impossible if Octatrack would do everything how you want it. I'm not saying a product should have flaws but simply push the idea of that product instead of constantly ask how you want it.

Also if these people really need disk streaming why they bought an MPC then? And why they still own one?

@ Thedoctor

More or less I agree with you, the majority of people filling forums with requests are just nerds or the sort, and they think the most cool gears they have, the most they are cool. Meanwhile people who really make music and live with it, don't waste a second on these forums. And they can make masterpieces with 32mb samplers and the sort.
But there is one thing to say.
Given that companies today release unfinished gears, and every company makes it today, then the gear you buy will need years to reach its true potential and it makes sense that people ask for updates to solve problems related to the fact that the gear they bought was just unfinished and not ready at the time it was released.
I don't know if you had the chance to put your hands on Mpc Live or X a couple of years ago, when it was on OS 1.7.
If you compare it with Mpc of 2.6, it is another instrument. The updating process was impressive, on 1.7 there were no synths, the effects were very lame and there were bugs everywhere.
The product manager of Akai was talking daily to users on Gearsluts forum and everything they put on Mpc came also from users suggestions.
Then the manager disappeared from GS after Mpc reached a good point.
I also escaped from that forum, some months later, because it is a forum full of nerds and unkind people to say the least.
So I guess this is a sort of marketing trend, they release products and then make it good through users feedback until it reaches the maturity.
The problem is the quality of feedback you can get on these kind of forums where real musicians don't write anything.
I also don't like to buy unready products as well, I would much prefer to get a gear for what it gives me without thinking it will be improved but it is working like this for every gear and every company that makes hardware in 2020.
And I am happy with Live as it is now, I don't need disk streaming and other requested features but I could not say that when I bought it and it was running 1.7 OS.

Yeah and that's why we shouldn't give money to companies. This trend is spreading all over mate. I'm an hardcore videogame, actually I was because any new videogame get released in beta and they slow update till a new product come out. In the end they make more money like this because they need less resources to make a product.

I didn't buy an MPC in the beginning. I bought one in 2020 because I like where it is. If maybe people stop buying just because something is new or cheap, maybe we could see an improvement. Overall is the end users to define what big companies do, McDonald's is selling vegan burgers because it has to otherwise they lose too much money. If Akai didn't get any money from people in the beginning they could shut down or work seriously on update. Think about it:I have a product people buy in beta version, I might have MPC 4.0 already but people buy my product in beta so instead of realising it I give to you small updates so you think I'm working on it, in reality I'm just tracking your movement and when I need I make a new MPC with 3.0. And I repeat the circle over and over again because you buy a beta product.
MPC will get disk streaming because now it will compete with Digitakt. Loopop on YouTube received one and that's more your typical synth modular guy than your chop sample guy. See what they're doing?
Unfortunately who really give money to people are all hobbyist. That's how Behringer sells.

And about the Akai guy replied to people, **** that! It's just getting information to give to you what you want so they don't have to extra plan on updates. I want a Roger Linn who make a finished and iconic product. A Bob Moog that makes the first analog synth. My point is what people request is the usual stuff what an individual make could be totally unique if he just care about his idea.

Same for tecnique. The standard of today are from who brake the standard of yesterday. People can just suggest you what's standard but they won't come up with something new, that's done by few smart individuals.

About the kind of feedback I totally agree, sometimes I just can't read forum because they're full of basic question which they can answer with few minutes on google. Imagine the customer service of Akai hoe many stupid question it has, that doesn't help us. Because they have data showing the majority of their used are noobs. Back in the day this type of gear was not accessible to everyone, Bob Moog talked with musicians and Buchla with composer when they make their synth. Companies now days they probably talk with "I have a cute face and my YouTube channel has a lot of view for not reason, because I read what I said on LANDR"

The only legit production aspect I can see from disk streaming is for the audio tracks and for bouncing down and processing them all standalone. however you have many options for them right now, render from the mpc, export to your daw of choice, etc. maybe it will help things run smoother but there’s a lot of sample time as it is.

If you’re planning on doing dj sets with the mpc or force, I see this as the worst product for you. Cdjs with a USB port would be a lot more cost effective.

I think if we are honest with ourselves there will always be someone to complain, play devil’s advocate, or whatever. There is no way to please 100 percent, ever.

He must be ignorant that disk streaming is super great for people like me who have large software like Eastwest instruments and do orchestral work (music Ques) or music in general that's not about samples.
Doing music Ques you hold that music in midi, not Audio until the music director gives it a green light. You get the music sheet for the real players and go!

Disk screaming is a great asset.
