How do producers manipulate the sounds of instruments?

Hello! I’m new to producing music and want to learn more about manipulating the actual sound of an instrument. I’ve heard of things like sound design, synths and timbre, but I’m not exactly sure where to begin. Basically, I’m interested in learning how to adjust the physical sound of an instrument and hopefully being able to direct what kind of emotion it conveys. I was hoping y’all could give me some guidance about what topics I should look into, how I should approach learning more about this or how to think about manipulating the sounds of instruments.

I've heard rumors of something on the internet called a search engine, where people can write words and it will tell you answers. You should look into that.

Problem is, that's an exceedingly broad question. What one sounds conveys to one person, might not be the same for others. Subjectivity is king there.
Some genres of music use similar methods to convey particular themes, 60's soul uses very different sounds to 90's death metal.
Choose an instrument and start there. Maybe ?!?!

1st thing...on this site...you're gonna have to develop Tough Skin...Because some of the Users will make you feel like Sh*t...for what reason i have no Idea!

Now to your question...You just gotta Get Busy messin with the Filters, Effects, EQ etc. Make ya own signature sound, when tweaking instruments and sounds...

The Sole Purpose of the Forums...especially the Getting Started Section is to Help One Another....

So Ask away lol....

The best advice i'd say is just to start with simple synthesis and the basic understanding of how that works. There are loads of tutorials and youtubes out there about this. In time you will develop knowledge and more skill for this, but be patient and be curious!
