You just wrote the treatment for the next marketing campaign. Just add a top down view, wooden table, plant, and some bboy uprocking. :popcorn:

I used to run media sites, so citing one's source is serious business. This is going to be the downfall of user based social media sites like Youtube. It's already happening now, they just don't realize it yet. BIG MEDIA is moving in and that means, little media will get crushed.

The Corona Virus, already have bigger names taking over streaming and platforms are negotiating deals with studios. Small YouTube creators, will get pushed out. They just don't know it! Remember when Facebook was the place to be, until all the BOOMER showed up. :lol:

Nevertheless, this MPC LIVE MK 2 is generating more buzz, than the marketing campaign. Unless this is apart the MK2, Phase 1 push. Because they knew the manufacturing and supply chain was pushed back before NAMM. :lol:

Let's talk release timeline and price speculation!

The FCC submission is usually a set umber of days before a thing is released, 90 or something right? Does that put this 'out' around April/May? Global economic and supply chain collapse notwithstanding...

Price, probably what the Live MK1 was at release?

Now that Superbooth isn't happening I wonder if announcements/etc might get shifted around?

But you already know the Live 2 won't have either of these. ;) :nod: :lol:

Yeah, I'll stick to my generation 1 Live at this point.

Three years and time for another. Plus I have a sneaky suspicion that the Update 3.0, may cost. Considering they have a new device on the market and another coming to the market. If the updates is a big as it suppose to be, I can see them charging for it. Why release an MK II and give away the features to older devices, like the LIVE?

It's time to pay the piper by purchasing the update or buying a new machine. It's basically the same thing they did for the REN and Touch. Also this may be the reason, they DC'ed the MPC LIVE so early. That way by the time the MK II is released, the last store bought warranties have passed. Therefore no free upgrade.

Personally, I feel the OS UPDATE is the bigger story over the hardware. :popcorn:

I'm a bit skeptical about this.. If the live MK 1 is not being sold anymore, it doesn't matter. Especially if the MK2 is going to be allmost the same price.

Also, charging for 3.0 when you just bought a brand new mpc one, is a big f-you to all the new users.

Then again, Akai has pulled these kind of tricks of in the past...

I agree with Charles, OS 3.0 will cost. And if it's a meaningful update that's certainly fair. However, I imagine it would just come with the mkII. Or they'll add a condition like "$99 for MPC owners, free to owners of the Live mkII".

But they're in a difficult spot. What about MPX X and One owners that purchased after a certain date? I imagine there will be some condition for that as well.

Two questions:

1. What would a Live mkII have to have, to entice you to upgrade? Danoc gave his answer. What about everyone else?

For me, doesn't really matter much, because all of the improvements I want are in the software. I think it's going to be about three things - more tactile button access to functions, CV and a speaker. If I were to get a Live mkII, none of those features would entice me - I'd just be getting one to have the latest thing. Nothing more.

2. What features would 3.0 have to have (software or standalone), for you to consider it a meaningful update?

For me, I don't use the software AT ALL, so I only care about standalone. For me to consider 3.0 a meaningful update, it would have to include:
* 4000 / Z series sampling capabilities (this is a big one for me - the fact that I can't easily copy a part of a sample and paste it at the end (to make the sample longer for example - think a synth sound) is silly. It's a sampler - I should be able to manipulate samples. I'm just giving one example... there are way more things we should be able to do to samples, in a sampler.
* new song mode
* time stretch algorithm (license one)
* browser improvements (sortable, searchable)
* a load recent project menu option would be nice
* tighter integration with MPKs

What I'm afraid we'll get with 3.0 is a drum synth (and they'll call it a game changer), a couple more AIR fx, more clip launching options, improved Splice integration, a half-baked song composition mode like the Force, and more alignment with the Force platform in general.

Ooooo I like that Sampler Feature request. I think the MPCs are missing a "Merge" Function. We can EXTRACT but we cant Merge the Samples....At least not in Standalone. Not sure if you can do it in Controller Mode or not.

And I think you can Load Recent Projects already. There's an option in the Menu
