Dam  they sold a lot of units.

How bout Akai build their MPC with the XBox specs instead of depending on another. :smoker:

CharlesRandolph wrote:As of Feb 2020, XBOX ONE has sold 46 million units. Also you can buy one new for $249.99. All that is needed is a Real Professional XBOX MUSIC App and compatible MIDI controller. Now all Akai Pro would need to do is port over their software and make the MPC LIVE and MK II, MPC ONE, and MPC X compatible with the XBOX. It has everything you asked for.

These are the things the MPC Live Mk II should be tapping into. Not speakers and splice but Xbox and PLAYSTATION.

HDMI
Mouse and Keyboard Support
8 Core AMD
8 Gigs of RAM
3 - USB 3.0 Ports

Because XBOX already has build eco system and users. Plus all they would need to do is port over the
software and making their hardware compatible with the platform. Just like they do for Windows and macOS. This is how they reach a new audience, without dumbing down the product.

Was this on Gearslutz? Do you have a link for that?

Dan goes by "xparis001" over at Gearslutz, though he stopped posting about the MPC Live back in July 2019 (actually, he's been totally silent since August 2019, so maybe Akai pulled the plug on him posting as it seemed to be causing more user frustration than anything).

Anyway, he confirmed that 3.0 would be a free upgrade here:

https://www.gearslutz.com/board/showpos ... ount=17336

Unrelated, he did say that disc streaming would be a 3.0 thing, and that a sequencer track 1:1 model (like on Force) was their number 1 request (at the time): :smoker:

Take 20 pixels off the top and put a ticker tape runner... "download fresh beats here"... "I will get you in the mix now"... "with this simple trick he made millions on his beats"

Comparing to video game consoles is not really 1:1, Sony, Nintendo, Microsoft sell their consoles at a huge loss, knowing they make it up on the back end with software and online products. They sell the consoles at a loss to get you in the door. Won't work for music manufacturers where the thing you buy is often the last time you give that company money for that particular product.

It's not about comparing it to consoles. It's about music equipment manufactures jump on that platform. Pay the platform royalties and make it happen. :smoker:

Consoles are able to be made at low cost and take a loss at time of sale due to making licensing fees on the back end. Every game you buy, a piece of that profit goes to the console manufacturer. The same goes for officially supported accessories. Price out the cost of building XBOXes on a low count run, and you will see why InMusic decided not to go this route.

What does any of that have to do with porting over the software, and adding the 7% license fee to the cost. They can release accessories, just make it third party and they don't have to pay the official accessories license fee. So it won't say Official Licensed and have the seal, but it can say compatible with.

Imagine how many Akai controllers and MPC's that would sale because of this. This is the kind of stuff that is needed to pull in more users. Press Release could read: MPC LIVE MKII, One, X is now compatible with XBOX One and Series X console. Music and Gaming Youtubers would go crazy with this news.

Akai is in the business of making money. That’s why they have an iOS app, Android app. and they sell the MPC and VIP Software. They also Sale mpc expansion sound packs. What you don’t understand is how many producers have an Xbox one.

Also these systems are far more than a gaming console.

What you don't understand is that no serious musician is going to sit in front of their TV on their game console to make music. You don't need to believe my word, though: the proof is in the market. Every game console since the original Xbox and PS2 has been more than capable of handling software to compose music, yet...

NOTHING. Nothing of consequence, anyway. When was the last time you heard producers asking pro audio companies to release software for their Xbox/PS? :hmmm:

When the market seems to be taking every possible measure to move away from sitting in front of TV's/computer displays, it's pretty clear that trying to tap into the game console market is a bad move. Not sure if you heard, but Akai just released another standalone MPC. And now they're refreshing their other standalone MPC.

People said the same thing about iPad and Smartphones. Yet here we are, Professional Musician using ipad and smartphones to create music. All it takes is one successful and professional music app on the new PS5 or XBOX Series X and they'll all rush the market. Funny, you sound like the same people, who said you can't shoot video with DSLR.

Only niche markets, are moving away from desktop and laptop computers.

And yet, as was already pointed out - here we are almost 2 decades (18 years, to be exact) later since game consoles started to appear that rivaled many mid-end gaming computers, and there's... NOTHING.  Don't you think if pro audio companies thought there was a market, they would have been all over that shit years ago? :WTF: :Sigh:

Sure. You keep telling yourself that.

They didn't have too because they had a larger market share. Also they aren't dealing with a new generations who rather, play games and use tik tok over making music.

Did you forget about the whole, Guitar Hero, Rock Band with drums and mics, DJ Hero. Who do you think was
making accessory for those games?

EnochLight wrote:Sure. You keep telling yourself that.

You're right, it's a niche of a niche of a niche, who dreams about making music in the stone age. Nevertheless, lets get back on topic with the MPC Live Mk II. I can't wait to hear that speaker.
