In standalone mode. I want the MPC X to trigger the Cakewalk Sonar sequencer. I was wondering if I need to connect a Midi cable to one of the MPC Outputs and back into the computer to receive that Midi signal to trigger the DAW sequencer.

Hold on you have midi inputs in your computer in a Pcie slot? Normally people have an interface with midi on it and connected that way.

Also let people know your setup si they can help you better.

Which one you like better Pcie Midi or interface with midi?
You do use a PC to make music?

I like the rme sound card and midi but like I said not my thing. Your pci card should work better. I’m more of a lay board, mpc, mixer type dude but I use the computer as tape...
just hook the shit up over midi on standalone. You can thank me later. Maybe get a mixer if something.

Oh its not for me. Im strictly ITB. No more middle man cable crap for me. So my stuff is nice and clean .
