I'll preface this with - I am sure it's user error.

When I try to play loops ( this happens with any loops, however for the purposes of this thread, I'll be using some loopmasters ones so we can be sure I haven't mis recorded any of my own), they all play at different tempos/speeds/bpms.

I'll import of bunch of loops and allocate them to pads.

When I trigger the loops by hitting a pad, they'll either be too fast or too slow, and will not sync with one another.

When I go into sample editor the bpm will be very different to waht the master is.

When I turn warp off, they play at their original tempo(as expected), however they won't sync this way as the loops may be of different tempos.

I have manually put the main bpm in to each clip in the editor and that hasn't made any difference.

Is there something I should be doing at a settings level? Is there something I am missing?

I have searched here and the Web and I find a lot of grumbling about clips in the mpc software, however nothing that fits my issue and nothing that gives a solution. I've read through the full manual and there's nothing that really helps, unless I've missed it.

I need the clips to play in sync as part of my live set and am hopeful that someone can point me in the right direction to resolve this.

Thanks! :worthy:

Hey Kaydigi,

I'm using the MPC One, with the most recent firmware.

I have been starting from a fresh project/template each time. How would I reset the devices preferences? Is this found in the main settings?

I can upload a video if that helps?

Thanks!

I don't have experience with clips and warping in the MPC. I keep that for if I use ableton, that's just me.

But, perhaps you should like into patched phrases and apply that to all of your loops.
Then, you record all the loops on one sequence.
Then go to pad mute. You can switch of/on tracks where the patched phrased loops are.

Have a look at this video too for some more info on patched phrases versus warping.

Sorry for the late response. I was on my lunch break and just tried some clips and everything auto warped fine. I tried with some of my own loops and the factory built in edm/ house loops.

I took the programs from 122 bpm down to 60 and everything autowarped down. The mpc warp algorithm is terrible though, I wish they would make a better one for standalone. The ones in the software are much better.

When you are on the main screen with a clip program. Hit edit clips , then with pad select check that each one and make sure the proper bpm is on each pad and that warp is selected on each one.

Have you tried using some of the factory clip programs and see if you have an issue.

This is on a Live though not a One.

This right here.

Even on a fresh empty project, I have noticed that sometimes when loading clips to pads, the loop will be given a 20bpm tempo, regardless the loop length or original bpm.

So of course, the key is to check each pads clip settings (edit clips menu) and make sure the bpm is where it should be. If its not or I have to make adjustments, usually im either doubling the clips bpm or even matching it with the sequence bpm to get it the way I want.

Also, if you replace a clips sample to something new, the original sample's bpm for the clip will still be assigned. Another reason to check all your clips to see if they are loaded with the right settings after you import samples to them.

Thanks all. I'm going to spend some time with it later and dig into this.

I will say that if I have to go into each and every clip and adjust them all before playing, does feel a little counterintuitive. All my other samplers and daws (octatrack, blackbox 1010, ableton, etc) do this automatically, which in itself wouldn't be an issue, if akai weren't pushing the wonder of clips in all their promos. Anyway, I'm sure I'll be able to get to the bottom of it, or use the workarounds suggested.

Other than this issue, my experience so far has been really positive with the mpc one and also the forum. It's a very intuitive piece of kit and after a week I'm already considering the live mk2...

Nah we are just telling you to check the bpms per pad to see if the MPC ONE is glitching. The 20 bpm glitch has been there since 2.0 released but it doesn’t happen often. So if it that’s what’s happening to you then I would reset your mpc reinstall the latest firmware and try again.

On normal usage you do not have to babysit the bpms per pad in clip mode on the x, live, one or force.

Oh sh##, OK!

That's just what was happening - 20bpm on a lot of the clips.

Cool, I'll reflash the firmware and see if that sorts it out!

Thanks

does reflashing the firmware, fix a lot of problems ??? MY MPC LIVE acts really weird occasionally. I was gonna get a backup but maybe all I need to do is reinstall the OS.

It didn't fix my issue.

In my case, I returned to the octatrack and the sp-16 for loops, and the mpc is used to create instead of for performing.

Haha....You guys....

You can use the Warp Function on each clip to get it dialed in right. If they're too far off...You may have to Time Stretch certain clips in the Sample Edit before Warping.

With the New 2.8 version...you can set the Time Warp Algorithm to Pro Ten which sounds a lil better when warping!

But at the end of the day...you're correct. Its always wise to have Multiple Equipment when doing Live Performances. No One Magical Box will work properly

Rock On!!!
