Have you listened to the samples on that site. It's like every black face song ever made.

I'm merely saying that what was accomplished in hop hop back in the 1980's and early 1990's (arguably the golden age of hip hop), could NOT be replicated today due to licensing. You KNOOOOOW this is true, so just stop. Enjoy the link that I posted for what it is, or move along. No one will be sore at you.

Looks like someone never heard of artist like: Dilla, Daedelus. Knxwledge, Madlib. Ras G, Flying Lotus, Dibase. I could go on but you're suppose to be making beats from those samples. I'll wait!

You're not only missing the entire point, you're purposely deflecting, trolling, and just looking stupid. I'll spell it out for you again: hip hop has changed dramatically over the past 2-3 decades because no hip hop artist can afford to clear the samples. No producer can just crate dive, pick any record they want, scratch/mix/sample and release it - because they cannot clear the samples.

If you are too daft to acknowledge this, then there is no hope for you.

And as far as the quality of the library, who the **** cares? The whole point is that it is ALL free, all open, and anyone can take anything from that library and do whatever the **** all they want with it, with ZERO risk of industry lawyers coming after you.

And really? Black face songs? Jesus you love playing the victim, don't you?

CharlesRandolph wrote:Now, I await music from both of you guys.

Says the troll who hasn't once stepped up and showed us what he can do. Don't you have some muSak "beats" to make or something?

richie wrote:The reason why you've deleted 1 post since and edited this one twice isn't the actual reason "because you can"

He does that a lot. You can never trust a word he says, to be frank.

bees80 wrote:Great post. I've heard a lot of nice samples and i am feeling urged to make some hiphop beats again.

Yeah, with the size of that library there's bound to be something in there that's useful. For those who are inclined to use it, anyway. 8)

Much of it is cleared... I saw some interesting verbiage in some of the posted interviews that seemed to suggest it was cleared for the public to listen to, but I'm not so sure you could sample it to make the interviewer/interviewee on your next track, so it's still worth checking copyrights and seeing how they suggested posting credits etc...

Always a good idea. Still, it's more than likely much less risky than sampling a bunch of Mowtown releases and paying to clear them - or not.

In my opinion...Long as you're not generating a Considerable amount of Income while using the sample, you should be ok.
If you are making lots of Noise and revenue, then you should worry bout clearing the Samples at a Later date....

Thats why i Chop and Mangle Samples to where its somewhat hard to Detect where i got it from...Unless i want it to be known where i got it from

That is not true, clearing samples have never been easier.

Well I've listened to the archive before I posted, I guess you haven't. Spoiler: There's lots of 1900 Field songs and Vaudeville samples. There is nothing victim about it, what do you think was happening in 1905.

One of the samples: A Plantation Medley of Southern Airs.

- Aba Daba Honeymoon! Have you heard that song. :hmmm:
- Preacher and the Bear is COON song.

And it's never been more costly. As said before, there's a reason why you don't hear releases like the old days anymore, and it has ZERO to do with their being better artists then versus now. But you know this, so stop being disingenuous.

I am really scratching my head if sample-clearance was a main reason that you hear less sample-orientated beat nowadays.
