Akai's FCC submission for the MPC Live Mk II

I see some benefits in the speaker for portability. Most music devices with speakers I have are not fully functional workstations that the MPC Live is. I actually do sit in my living room with my MPC. Plus I have synths that use CV. Although as I have a Deluge, there is no need for me to upgrade. This new midi update will enable me to integrate the Deluge and MPC, such a killer combo.

The speaker is a bit ugly but I don't think it's as terrible as the overall look and design of the Force (in terms of looks not functionality).

I want that CV but just bought a great sequencer, but the Q-links could be a fun way to digitally control CV. I'll probably wait for the price to go low.

I'll stick to my first gen-Live. I want the CV and the newer buttons - they extra ones really will be useful - but I have little use for the speaker and I don't want it any larger than my current Live anyway. When I'm sitting on the couch jamming or in the park, I've got my headphones on so I don't disturb my family watching TV, and outside has too much background noise. I'm honestly at a loss as to why Akai thought a built-in speaker was a good idea. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

The reality is they probably will sell more of these than they did the Live. People are gullible to marketing and adding an internal speaker to a MPC is 100% a marketing ploy.
I doubt you see any serious studios with a Live2. This is strictly for hobbyist

I've seen serious studios with Teenage Engineering Pocket Operators and Korg Volcas. Don't discount the Live II just because it has a speaker.

All they did was slap a speaker on it.... Im not going to waste my text. No up in ram , man lma be real this is a horrid disaster!
They got tbe nerve to say no computer needed. Duh l use my live now without a computer. Im done!

They are not aiming toward US E, they are aiming towards digital babies. Yo lm selling my live, lm done with Akai. I can't get what l want lma focus my time and money somewhere else.

That is incorrect. The control buttons have also been changed/improved, and it also has the CV jacks like the MPC X and One.

That's disappointing to hear.

Sold my Live in about 2 hours on Reverb. Got full ask ($875).

I am sold, day 0 pre-order for the MK2.

Everyone is hating on the speakers, but I am really looking forward to them. I also love the Splice integration, so maybe I'm just more representative of the target market. But I'm telling you, I'll throw money at them for the speaker. Solves a big pain point for me.

A bit of hyperbole on my part for sure but I see the speaker as an answer to people complaining about no audio over usb. If you need audio over usb in an mpc I highly doubt you are working on anything serious. Which is cool and I’m not hating but there’s simpler, cheaper and better options to audio on the move.

Ummm l dont use CV. Buttons improved? Ummm ok. My buttons been wrking day one. They... Never mind. Again slapped a speaker on it.

I have the deluge as well and I’m going to add the new Live to the mix. How do you plan/suggest on implementing the 2 devices? Which device is the master? For me right now my Deluge is the master for all my synths. I feel there might be a lot of overlap between the two, both sequence, have multi midi, can sample, etc.

I get that, but when I say the buttons have been improved, I mean there are more, allowing you to control more things without relying on the TUI. My point is: there is more than just a speaker added.

I'm tempted to do the same, but I really like the gen-1 Live's form factor, and I already own a Decksaver for it. I don't know if I want to give up the size just for the new layout and a speaker and then have to wait for Decksaver to step up and make a new cover for it. That said.. it's damn tempting. I've got my Reverb.com account cued up.
