Haha the placement of the speaker. Isn't that where your hands are going to lean on all the time?

Or are we all holding out hope still that it might be step sequencer buttons that they just haven't shown us yet?

I am sold, day 0 pre-order for the MK2.
Everyone is hating on the speakers, but I am really looking forward to them. I also love the Splice integration, so maybe I'm just more representative of the target market. But I'm telling you, I'll throw money at them for the speaker. Solves a big pain point for me.

So your spending $300 on a computer speaker essentially. This is the logic I don’t understand. If you already have a live just buy some damn portable speakers or cans and save some money.

They, quite literally, just added a few buttons and a speaker. Like danoc said, my buttons & shortcuts work fine and dont impede my workflow what-so-ever.
I think akai is trying to sit in a space between the more 'serious' Elektron- type nerds & the 'fun-loving' teenage engineering/korg-type nerds... Its a merging of the above & the 'backpack'-type nerds.
Why is the speaker where your hands will be most if the time??
So you can 'feel the bass.'
Which you can use as tax write off as well.

That's ridiculous.
It will have the quality of those bluetooth speakers where all frequencies are just fake, with bass reflex and these sort of things.
Very useless in my opinion.
