Depends on your method of finger drumming and working on your Live. If you tend to do it on the table top or your lap, maybe - but even then I don't personally find myself drifting down to rest my palms on anything. When I'm in my studio, it's sitting on an angled stand so I don't even get near that area. YMMV, though.

sinik wrote:is there really are going to be a speaker at the bottom of the new live mk2?
or could it be just an armrest?

It is NOT an arm rest. It has been confirmed to be a speaker.

NearTao wrote:I just don't get the arm rest... it seems like so much wasted internal space... but who knows... maybe they've fit a mini Bose bass cannon in there or something.

Or are we all holding out hope still that it might be step sequencer buttons that they just haven't shown us yet?

Everything we have seen and read suggests it is not an arm rest, and is only a speaker. No step sequencer buttons. Interesting if they fit a mini Bose bass cannon, but I seriously doubt Akai would work that out with Bose and then keep the price point. It's probably a cheaper in-house designed speaker or cheap Chinese knock off.

bees80 wrote:If it's that i will sell my live and get the mk2!

But it looks more like speakers, no?

It is just a speaker. That's all.

They, quite literally, just added a few buttons and a speaker.

They also, quite literally, added CV outputs.

Yikes! Perhaps step outside and take a breather? There's more pressing things in the world to worry about and get angry about than this, IMHO.

CharlesRandolph l tried to wait but here goes. Why would l sell my live for 500 when someone here said they sold there's for $875? Ebay have lives used from $750 to $850 easy! Mines is in mint condition and up dated.

Yup, sell the old laptop or donate it and use as a tax write off. Equipment is always an fixed asset, so you write off the deprecation over time.
