Saving chops as individual samples on standalone MPC One

Yeah... I'll add a few things to consider for a old school style for doing DnB as well...

1) Find a break to sample... and record it in
2) In Trim Mode set the start/end points of the sample down to a loop so that it sounds pretty good (does not need to be perfect)
3) Discard or Extract the break so you have a clean sample
4) Select the Sample, and move to chop mode... and lazy chop, region chop, whatever floats your boat... sometimes sloppy is better here... but make it as clean as you like...
5) Convert to a Program... and if this is your first time at the rodeo consider dropping the pattern to a track as well
6) Switch to your track and load the program if it isn't assigned to the track already

Now... For the fun part... and there are several ways to do this... but I'll cover one method...

Dedupe hits
1) You'll probably notice you've got a lot of hits that sound the same... this *can* be cool as it adds variety, but makes it hard to see your pattern
2) If you're here... go through all of your pads and take notes off which has kick, snare, hat, toms, mixed percussion etc...
3) When you find solo hits... you kind of hit gold... so if you have a separate kick and snare... boo yeah
4) Replace your favorite hits with the components you've found... and if you've got singles... well play both
5) From here you should be able to see the pattern pretty well and can add flourishes as you like

Convert to new program with new samples and imported the notes so it plays through.
Set the drum program to polyphony so I can play more than one pad at a time and use note repeat.

Record a jam and slice it again

Might be of use. As I said learning as I go here too.

That's the easiest way to do on a MPC.

The MPC Is pretty sweet for chopping up dnb breaks, nice and quick. I always do it in regions, eighth notes alot, but sometimes sixteenths depending on the break.
Then you can pretty much mix and match at your leisure. Random can make for some cool breaks and fills.
Convert it and make a new drum program. You can choose to actually slice it, or you can use the PAD settings which just maps the start/end points on each pad to your sliced sections in the sample.

Or in your case, just convert the slices to new samples by themselves, and make your key groups afterward.

The important part is to get the break taken care of before you chop it. Do all your trimming/time stretching/pitch shifting/etc. Get that thing perfectly in tempo, then slicing by math works great. Just chop chop and wait for the Reeses to drop and shake the floor.
