MPC to MPC connection

What happens if you connect say an MPC studio to an MPC live/x ? Does it just act like a generic controller, or do the special function keys work, etc.? Anyone tried this?

And what if you connect an Mpc Live to an Mpc Live?

i connect an mpc 2500 to my live as external midi control and can play 2 banks at once, can ad more also even without multimode midi this has worked for ages, mpc studio tho, no its pretty limited last i tried anything like that before i sold it, maybe ok now tho still needs a computer
