There is no better time for me than now. It is my strong belief these new joints won't stand up over time and should they manage to, they won't hold their value. My unit is in good shape but I have owned it since June 2017 and it's already discontinued.

I got mine for $1599 AUD. Right now the One is selling here for $1450 :vomit: and on top of that the mk2 live is preordering at $1850. So I'm in that sweet spot to get my money back :lol:

Truth is I never loved the Live. The layout is meh and touch screen interaction is required. That's fine for utility but for spontaneity and performance it is not ideal. No power user ever would have designed it this way.
The enclosure is depressing and along with the pad rubber a dust magnet like no other gear I ever owned.
Aesthetics aren't everything...
of course function is the most important factor, BUT There are things that are still clunky af. Maybe 3.0 fulfills all the potential. There is absolutely so much to love about the scope of the new MPC ecosystem. I have used the machine in ways I never expected as well as learned new ways to approach sampling and sequencing. Also, recording instruments and especially vocals, right to the unit, punching in overdubs. Killer.

I'll be rocking it for a little while longer. I have to do a bunch of auto sampler :-D Maybe when this cv19 is over with and I can fly back home I'll pick up a ONE on the cheap.

You will buy another one in a year.
Maybe mk2 or One.

Also sold my Live after trying to like it for a year. Never looked back. 2500 JJOS is also my weapon of choice. When I am away from my 2500 I use an MPC 500 I picked up recently. I have more fun with the 500 than I ever had with the Live.

Really don't know why some of you are bashing JeriKo Jackson on his decision , it's horses for courses fellas.

If I had the choice of a MPC X, MPC Live or MPC One I would still go for a MPC 4000 but that's my personal preference.

Using the latest and greatest isn't going to automatically guarantee your going to be a better producer and make better beats, use what you want to. As long your creating dope beats and having fun who gives a **** if your rocking the latest MPC

It was hyperbole I could have worded better. @Danoc said Akai was embarrassing. Those splash screens are. And yeah, you can disable those screens but there is no way other to access your templates in start up, is there? :fku: :lol: And you ever notice this: sometimes on start up it might bring you to the template screen and then other times it randomly wont. For me, maybe 1 out of 10 start ups.

Also I'm def not suggesting the Live stopped me from making music any way. But it's not a machine where I easily fall into a flow state when working. And if you read my initial post, I give it plenty of praise.

Who is bashing JJ? This group is actually pretty decent about seeing things for what they are and keeping a sense of humor about things... Like even people who bash the live can see some good in it, & vice-versa.

I was on some teenage engineering op-z groups and its like the kids are brainwashed... The op-z is riddled with problems (like embarrassingly high amount of bad builds, it bends, doubletrigs, encoders pop out, support is non-existant, etc etc) A bunch of the people have a f*cked up op-z and still defend it like they would get in trouble if they said something bad about it.

I'm glad that people ditch their MPC. Whatever akai is up to, imo, they're not doing THAT good of job at it. I think about getting rid of the mpc every now and then, but right now its what I use to make music and honestly dont see a better option besides going DAW.

Yes there is...you choose from the prefs in the startup screen setting to load your last saved projects.

The hurry up screen pops up when Live runs on battery.If plugged to power it gets you straight to the last saved projects.That’s the default behavior..If you had some different behavior then you had a faulty unit.Seen it before..

Can you direct me to this.
I'm running 2.8
My options are as follows:

Prefs>project default>project dialog
Off
Demo
Demo/template/recent

This brings up the stupid screen on startup, and you must tap user template instead of it just auto loading my template of choice. If there was an option to auto load the template on startup Id liked to be proven wrong, I truly would. There should be this option here:
Project Load/Save
Under template file

That's why I call it clunky. Little nags like that everywhere. Why doesnt qlink bank follow touch. Surely their should be a more clever way to select all pads in a bank or program... I could go on

But there have been times it skipped all the screens on start and went straight to main. No lie. Never happened to.you?

I must have a faulty unit because there is no rhyme or reason as to when it skips the "ready" screen. Plugged in or not, it's random.

Yep faulty unit..It must be your power cable or the input in your board..
Never had any problems..Try resetting your preferences first and check how it goes.
You should contact support..

Ye definitely contact support..As a last resort try first resetting your system preferences.I always do it after each firmware update just to be safe.Heard a lot of stories that has been fixed with this.

That happened to me like 3 times when l first bought mines in 2017. Then magically stopped. :-D :smoker:

:worthy: True dat. When you have a person go "BYE" we know that's shade, without being vulgar. Surely tried that with me but lm not having it. If people wanna keep investing in Akai with the new MPCs go ahead lm not doing and we both have rights to do what we want in our own studios. :smoker:

I like the MPC because I can just fly through the beat making process. Working with a DAW - though more powerful, its just not as inspiring, Like the beat battle. I would have had that beat done by now on a MPC. But working in a DAW its gonna have to wait. I got the sounds ready...but the sequencing has to wait because the sound design took too long,

I got rid of the Live because I copped the X. I got rid of the X cause it was too glitchy. I might have to buy another MPC...The 4000 is calling me.
