I was thinking roger and zapp, I been skimming some songa by EL and he seems to be the proto Too Short.. Even Too short covered at least one of his songs.

Zapp's Computer Love is Funk and R&B. Charlie Wilson of the Gap Band did back ground vocals on it. Yes, tons of people sample ZAPP. Egyptian Lover - I Need A Freak is Electro or Electro Funk.

Haha - man I thought I said it was Ovox... yeah man, it was. Cool tool, but meh - too difficult to get a usable sound out of it IMO. I had to fight with it just to get the sound I did.[/quote]

Electro Funk is a later bullsyt ass name that people made up.

Nothing to do with Disco.

Zapp, Cameo are not Electric Funk.

Electric Funk later also called “Freestyle” by Latin dj crews back in the 80’s.
Pretty Tony Butler, Jamie Jupitor, Kraftwerk NUMBERS, Arabian Prince, etc.
I have all these original cd’s when they were first made decades ago, PRIME electric funk real estate .

Looks like Lamp is right about Cameo.

Funk&RnB.

This.

Regardless what we’re calling it for this challenge (though I agree with the definition Lamp clarified), THIS is what I’m referring to. You can actually listen to all four of these CDs on YouTube (believe there were only four).

That’s the research right there folks. YouTube these CDs, check them out. Submissions need to sound like they belong on one of these CDs. Here’s the full track listing of these volumes. Check these songs. You submission should sound like it belongs on these CDs:

Thanks Lamp for the clarification and post. Can you also update my initial post? It’s past the time I can edit it. Can you add, in the rules part:

Submissions must sound like they belong on the classic Electric Funk CD volumes:

Yes sir. This is an example. This is one of the groups I listed in my initial post too. And CLASSIC album btw. Lol
