nice to hear all the submissions, really cool!

Eyalc:
Great song and composition overall, all instruments and sounds belong in the mix. The auto-tuned vocals make it more in today's present genre, a bit poppy. Don't get me wrong, i love pop music (no joke), but it doesn't fully hit the genre.

Danoc:
Nice, i hear you went more the p-funk route here, i'm thinking zapp, dj quick, dogg pound affairs. Could hear kurupt or snoop boasting a verse to this. The bassline could stand out in the mix a bit more. And cool outro, sounds like a JV/XV module or roland d-50.

Neartao
It almost sounds a bit like proto-techno to me, something that ralf and florian could have made in their early kraftwerk days :) I only don't like the underlying bassline, i think a short raw bassline could be better. The vocals are just crazy. It's pretty cool actually and it really sounds like some early techno.

CR
Yep you are in the right genre; 808, weird vocals, monosynth bassline, nicely done. Even some scratches! I should have done that :) Would have been nice to hear a break / built up somewhere in the song, it sounds a bit more like a jam instead of a full song.

CD
The melody is very kraftwerk-ish, nice! I'm curious how it would have sound if you speed this up to between 110/120 bpm.

Conclusion
If i think of the genre, my main choices are danoc and CharlesR. But the songs are in a different genre for me. Danoc really hits that p-funk, and Charles hits that electro-funk. So in that sense, in their own genres they win. But, my vote goes to Danoc, since it's more of a song, with built ups, and has more distinguished melodies.

Thank you for the insight, I definitely went for a Jam Session. I wanted to avoid any traditions song structure and just have fun and vibe out. I tracked the drums, hit record, and just did what came with no pre determine end game. I've since gone back to actually mix it, but what is heard is pretty much how it went down. Also there are parts with nothing on it, because I was too busy popping and enjoy myself.

My vote is for Milli Vanilli mixed with some Air Guitar, over a Liar Liar movie soundtrack. That way DANOC can enter the motown and electo funk again.

 @ jean jacket.

I’m assuming with graffitti on back?!

1985 I used these to draw on the side of my bleached jeans.

 I remember the whole bleached jeans phase.

I’m thinking of a big tweety bird patch for the back. It’ll go with George Michael dangly cross ear ring thing quite nicely.

I’m gonna stick with Electric Funk graffiti on the side of the jeans, lol.

Congrats to second place. I hope those 4 votes were worth destroying the integrity of this workshop.

Lesson learned here: There are people who'll pretend to be something they're not and they will steal, manipulate, lie, and cheat to gain an advantage that their talent doesn't represent. Even in a simple workshop that is suppose to improve ones skills.

PK1, was +1000% right.

Actually you are quite right by doing this :) a lot of those breakdance electro tunes did not had a real strong structure, i think. it sounds to me more like changing up segments with different instruments and sounds. Come to think of it, my track has more of a pop song structure instead of most songs in that genre. That bothered me a lot haha!

So anybody down for a next one? I've seen genre's like motown popping up?

Bees80 my man, we've done Motown already on the first workshop challenge. Perhaps there are genre you like but don't produce much of. As far as the song structure, yeah lot of those electro turn for dancers, are just vibes and jams that are pieced together. But that what good about these challenges, they allow us to open our ears. I enjoyed your structure.

In hindsight, I think a freestyle jam like verse section and a standard chorus section maybe the way to go.

Oh shoot, i didn't know that. Well i would probably really suck at making punk/hardcore, because i am a bad bass player and even worse on guitar. But it would be super fun to try and practice my playing.

What about synth-pop?
