Hello!

I'm a long time user of the mpc1000 and often came to visit this forum when I had troubles in the beginning. It's great!

I was wondering if it is possible to trigger samples randomly with jjos2xl, in play mode.

I'm running OS1 atm, i can mimic a random behaviour when i assign different samples to a single pad and assing velocity.

for exemple:
pad A01->kick1->vel90-100
->kick2->vel80-89
->kick3->vel70-79

It works quite good when hitting pads, but once it's recorded, well the velocity is also recorded and the sequence remains "static".

So yeah I was wondering if it is possible to have true random sample selection in play mode, with the cycle function or random arpeggiator (or something that i'm not aware of in jjos2xl...).

For exemple when padA01 is played: it triggers randomly one of the samples assigned to the pad, even when it's recorded and played back.

I'm making a lot of ambient music lately and being able to randomize my mpc patterns a little would be awesome!

I'm not very good at switching OS and all this stuff so I prefer asking before switching or trying os2xl.

I was wondering too if the OS1 to OS2XL update is still available and cheaper than buying OS2XL alone. I dont see OS1 on the JJ website anymore.

Any help appreciated!

Thank you guys

I just copped OS2xl, actually waiting to get off work and enter the password I just got. There is "round robin" sample playback available on OS2xl. And if I'm not mistaken, you can have it trigger 1 of the 4 layers randomly as well.

Actually, I just looked it up and found a video for the feature you're looking for, but it doesn't work like I assumed. It uses up several pads, designated in the mute group menu. So you trigger one pad, and can have it cycle through 4 other pads sequentially or randomly. Could be useful. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QF6P5vHq30s

I have tested this random trigger pad feature and unfortunately it doesn't work when you have the pad recorded, aka it doesn't trigger random pads while the sequence is playing and you have the pad performance recorded. What you can do though is to trigger the pad manually during playback and it will random cycle. Combine it with a aftertouch controlled filter in the program and you can have some cool ambient variations. :smoker:
