Hi:

I'm hoping you can help me with this issue: I've been working with the LIVE for a while now, but certain issues are still a mystery to me. This is one of those issues. I scanned the 2.3 bug reports for track bouncing problems, and I see many reports related to the 16 bit vs 24 bit issue . . . but I'm having a more fundamental problem, and I'm hoping you can help provide some perspective on this or let me know what I'm doing wrong:

I sequenced a track using a midi program, a controller keyboard and my external synth, a DSI TETRA. It plays back fine.

I selected the pencil icon in the track and pulled up the many different menu choices that are on that screen, two of which are "bounce to audio" and "bounce to sample." But neither one of these functions works! I can't bounce my MIDI program synthesizer track to audio or to sample. When I select "bounce to audio" and then go into audio edit, the audio grid is empty---there is no waveform there. The same thing happens whey I select "bounce to sample." I go into Sample Edit, pull up the newly named (automatically named) "Bounce--Track 1" and there is no waveform there, no sample.

When I hit the button (either bounce to audio or bounce to sample), a message pops up for a fraction of a second reading "Exporting Track 1". But nothing happens, no sample or audio track is created.

I can work around this by going into the empty audio track, arming the track and then recording the MIDI synth track in realitime. This works, and the audio wave form shows up. I can also go into the Sampler and create a sample of the MIDI synth track that way.

But should I be able to convert the MIDI synth track to audio or sample by using the pencil icon and the "Bounce" function without running the track and recording it in realtime? What does BOUNCE mean if it does not work (or is this a bug)???

Thanks!

Bounce to sample/audio track does not work for MIDI tracks as the audio is not within the MPC, it's routed out of the back of your external synth (to a mixer or similar).

To bounce an external synth, connect the audio outputs of your synth into the audio inputs of the MPC (e.g. 1 +2). Now go to a blank audio track and configure it to record from the MPC audio inputs (1/2). Arm the track and hit PLAY START.

I’ve heard similar before where peeps using ext gear expect audio bouncing.
In order to bounce something you need that audio in THAT machine that’s doing the bouncing. There’s a strong need to understand that in these days where midi is everywhere and audio is not always routed accordingly.
