It was just a drum sample player, now it can model drums in software giving infinite variations, automation of parameters for changing sounds etc, its cool (and free).

Doesnt sound like it from the convo over at GearSlutz.. Still looking for some sort of release notes other than 'DrumSynth is out'.

Gonna sit this one out unless some bug fixes. I hqve hundreds ofgigabytes of drums. What a modular drum synthetic going to do.. good to see some additions need bug fixes also..

yep last thing i need is a drum synth to bloat up the live more, reliable midi timing would be appreciated, this thing is slop and should run alot more efficiently so it doesnt lag doing basic things

I was looking to get a Behringer RD-8, but since DrumSynth came out, I’m going to save that money. LOL.

Too bad that will never happen because JJ is no longer an Akai employee and cant steal the OS like he did with the MPC1000/2500 before he got fired.

I dont know man, there is still something to be said about all those knobs to tweak! But I bet the Drum Synth actually uses MIDI CCs for its controls, the RD-8 (and probably the RD-9) dont. Im still getting the RD-9 when it drops though.. Its gonna be techno time for days when it drops!
