First off I love akai products to even with there issues.. I tried for 4 years with maschine sequencer and hated it maybe because I have been using akai since 1991..

Reason 11.4 or which ever version is growing on me.. but I rather use cubase 11 and have reason rack.. that being said It's back to the standalone market which is fine I wished akai just address the bugs..

Like with this update putout which bug fixes.. it like taking the emergency covid shot you don't know what's in it.. :( :(

I hear ya. If you get the X will it be the center piece or side piece?

I was really looking into getting MPC X but after I read about problems with the OS, bugs, low quality updates and **** support from Akai I changed my mind pretty quick. Hoped that maybe something changed for the better with 2.9, but nope...

This metaphor is like apples and peaches trying to be banana's while fingerraping lemons.

Do you have MPC Software 2.0 listed under, My registered products. If yes, click on the see details, scroll down and download 2.9 update. If not you need to fork over that cash. It's 50 bucks here.

Thanks for the reply but I already paid for the software upgrade, the license is on my ilock. It’s NOT in my registered products, which is absolute horse shit. No way I’m paying again, when I’m buying an X soon. Even if I wasn’t, it’s still 100 % BS.
I’m getting the impression from the site that purchased upgrade licenses don’t count any more. Look at the new pay scale. Another extremely foul aspect is that if I were to buy a new permanent license now, that only includes two updates. Unbelievable. It’s right on the site.
I didn’t mention I also have a broken Touch - that’s no longer in my registered products, either. All its downloads are obviously gone. :Sigh:

Clearly free updates are over for Studio owners as well, as I let my son use one of my 3 licenses and gave him my Studio and he gets the “latest edition “ message under check for updates too.

"DrumSynth is available for free as part of a major update to these products. Click on your product to download now."

I click on software, as I own 3 licenses, and it takes me to the software sale page. One other thing I notice is that there are choices to pay outright, make payments, or subscribe. Currently using my third Studio, my second Studio Black

No freaking way am I paying for this when I already did so. I'll wait until I get my X. Sucks about the bugfixes, though. I actually already gave my Studio to my son. 2.8.1 is still saying it's the current version in-program.

I also notice that the subscription is the only one that says "Includes all updates." The other two say "Includes 2x updates." :Sigh:

If you have 2.8.1 unlocked with iLock then simply download the 2.9 demo

If you have paid previously for the 2.0 upgrade then you are entitled to 2.9 for free as well, this is not a 'paid' update, nor were you only entitled to two updates from purchasing it. You'll be fine until Akai release the next paid upgrade (probably 3.0). As per the previous post, just download the 2.9 demo, it's the full version and will just recognise your existing registration/activation details upon launch.

Yeah what you're saying should of been done already.

Xpand 2, and Hybrid at the very least should of been put in the hardware. They both have hella sounds that would keep ine happy. But don't know how much of a strain it would of been on the Ram. I use and have all the Air synths on my main an lappy. :smoker:

I’m pretty satisfied with what I have now. I’ve been saying for a long time that DrumSynth is what the MPCs were missing. I feel like it’s a more complete machine now... Akai could spend the rest of the 2.9 firmware updates fixing the bugs that are currently present in the MPCs or not... It’s fine with me.

I’m starting to learn that you just got to work with what you got...

I'm really surprised by the negative reactions. We got a transient shaper for our drums, on a drumsynth, for free on our MPC. I would pay 200 for that easily....... I've been wanting this for ages man I didn't even expect it to be ever there... this is fookin awesomee...!!!!!!!!!!!

RedW6lf wrote:Can anyone else confirm if the MIDI send to bug has been fixed for them? I’m still encountering the same issue. If I copy a sequence, the midi “send to” settings for midi tracks of the copied sequence reset back to “<none>“.

That wasn't the bug being referred to - the original bug was; after setting the 'send to MIDI' for a track in seqeunce 1, press play, select seq 2 ('next seq') and then return to seq 1, where the send to midi settings were now reset to 'none'. No copying involved, this all happens 100% during playback.

What you describe is a different bug, you should report it.

Well I am pitching drums as they have to match the scale of my track. Not sure why anyone wouldn't do so. Natural drums get tuned as well by the way. If you have a kick and a bass hitting at the same time it will sound **** even sidechained if those aren't tuned to each other.

^^ this.

Ask any mixing engineer, the basis of a good mix is in the low-end, you really want to have it in tune. If the low-end aint in tune, your mix will NEVER reach full potential. Technically impossible.

It's just a very nice thing to have, for drums transients are essential. I've made kicks and snares from my recorded metronome clicks in my 4000 (yes, big long bass heavy kicks and ultra phat snares.. from just 1ms metronome click). I've made thousands of kits... but layering them with this shit is just percussion madness. Endless...

100% truth. The negative vibes about akai is a main reason i don't lurk around the forum not so much anymore.
