Not really. Zips have the worst reputation for build quality and have a very high failure rate (likely the worst in the industry). Flash drives are the best way to go. I've been using them for years in all the Akai Pro equipment. No moving parts. No failures.
I've bought most all of my readers for $5 or $10, cheaper than many of the zips. Also, the cost per meg for a flash drive is less than Zips. You can get 1 gig drives for $60 new and the last time I looked at 10 pack of 100meg zips was $99.

Many of the MPC2000/3000 owners that called the MPC1000 toyish and poorer build quality are also using the 100% plastic and unreliable storage medium called Iomega Zip. The storage medium IS more important than the MPC: the MPC can be replaced, your work cannot.
