Technical questions for the MPC2000xl and the MPC2000

Whats up bros.

I have long had a concern regarding the "mode" option on the 2000xl program screen, and it is that I honestly have not been able to find its functionality when I select the "vel sw" and "DCY SW" options. I went through the manual and supplied it directly to the machine, and I don't understand its function.

I think it is related to attack or volume automations, but I cannot activate that option. I am right? What exactly are these functions for?

Thanks!

Both modes have 2 extra sounds assigned to a pad. How hard you bang the pad or what position the nv slider is how the 2 extra sounds come to play.

if pad is banged over 44 velocity you’ll hear that sound assigned to that.
if over 88 you’ll hear that 3rd sound assigned just like tha pic shows.

Same with Decay switching EXCEPT the note variation slider is used instead for banging on the pads.

So many thankz bro, it was very helpful. I didn't quite understand what the manual was referring to, but I think this function will be useful for me in some specific things. Thanks again!

Try it out and lemme know if you still need help widdit. Glad it helped.
For years when I was heavy on 2kxl I've used both these features and it was always a great thing imo.

In the past I've used 2kxl Vel Sw alot for hihats.
Soft, medium and a hard sharp sounding hihat sample.

My main would be the soft sample initially loaded onto the pad.
1-127 are the values, 1 being the softest pad bang.
I'd add the medium sample if over 44.
I'd add the hard sample if over 88.

It sounded more real than just having 1 sample all the time.

On some other mpc's there are layers/zones that do this (4 samples on 1 pad).
I have MPC X and MPC 4k and I use layers (X), zones (4k) for this same thing.
