Copying Sequences

Ive copied several sequences but when I adjust AIR Pitch Shifter it effects all copied sequences. How would I apply that effect on the sequence I want to work one only. Basically I want the current sequence to work independently from the other sequences once copied.

Im not sure I follow what you are try to say

think about it this way:
the Sequence is your score. The program is your musician. the program plays the notes in the score (sequence). it generates audio. if you put an effect on the audio generated by the program, its always the same audio source you are working with,even when you switch sequence, because switching sequence is just telling your musician to play different notes. ya dig?
also: think about a physical studio with a physical mixer. you put an effect (lets say a pitch shifter) on a mixer channel where your vocalist goes. you apply the effect. if you then say to your vocalist to sing a different song, the effect will still be there.

so as Lampdog suggested, if you want same sound with different effects, just duplicate the program so you can put a different plugin on it OR the same plugin with different settings\presets...

another solution is to use automation to set plugin parameters different in each sequence, but i think you'd better off with duplicating the program. less hassle. keep in mind that it doesn't duplicate audio samples, so the raise in memory usage is not significant nor relevant.

As others helpers say, if your FX assigned on pad or a program, it will be the same in the copied sequence : i think you may need to duplicate the pad in the program, or the whole program , to put a second Pitch Shifter FX with different settings. Duplicate program doesn't duplicate the samples used by the program, only the small .xpm file is copied with a different name , allowing you to make other settings on the same samples... When you copy your sequence, just take care to replace the original progam with pitch shifter with the new copied program in the tracks where you use it.

OK thanks for clarifying that for me. Makes sense. So now the problem im having is when I use the duplicated program in place of the copied program, the way sequence 1 transitions into #2 is sightly different now. Basically the sample on the last pad hit from one sequence roles onto of the first pad sample of the other sequence. I didn't do that when I was using the copied program.

well, of course, because the polyphony constraints acting inside one program are not acting over two different programs, no matter if they use the same samples. you have to figure out a workaround

one quick trick? use the mother ducker sidechain compressor. put it on the sample you want to be silenced by the new sample and put the mother ducker input on the new sample. this way when the new one kicks in it will force the level of the old one down.

ok thanks brother. I will have to try that out shortly. Can you tell the most common way of building multiple sequences or song. Is it a good practise to copy sequences and then drop in duplicated programs as you go? Thank you

Ok thanks for the tip. Will I run into any problems down the road if I decide to copy programs as opposed to duplicating programs other then the one we discussed earlier on this topic. I don't want to find a work around unless absolutely necessary.
