8 outs/mixing board

Do I need the 8 outs expansion to run kicks, snares, etc. on their own seperate channel through a mixing board? A want to buy a 16 ch mxing board but I do not know it that would be pointless with out the 8 outs expansion??

Between the 8 outs and the mixing board, I will be spending around $600. Any-one think it mite be more wise to get a computer and do the mixing on that(if possible) or is the hardware the way to go???

you can get it done cheaper than that..music mix 14 made by soundcraft for jbl is what i use and it works well..really good value too.

ya.. $250 is the best price I have seen so far. Is it possible to put it in myself? I put in the memory.
Is there any software that would alow me to mix with-out the 8-outs.

not unless you track each part into your software individually. then mix it in software. I like the analogue approach ( hands on ), cause i dont have a controll surface for any software either. plus no multi input soundcard. i just do stereo mixdowns from my mixer. plus it gives me alot more flexibilty when routing outboard fx and eq's to run the mpc through.
