If you add a new SSD, it may not be formatted to the correct format. How would you know? If you install the drive, power on the Force, select Menu, select Browse, then select Places. If it does not show up under Places, then you probably need to format the drive to the correct format.

Note for Windows Users
This will basically work the same using a PC, but you will not use Disk Utilities. You will need to sue the Windows equivalent. I think in Windows 10 you just right click the drive in Explorer and select Format.

Instructions for Mac
Connect the Force to your Mac using the supplied USB cable from Akai. If you have a newer Mac with the USB-C ports, you will need a USB-C to USB-A adapter. On the Force, select Menu, then tap the little Computer icon up at the top right of the screen above BROSWER. Place Force into "Computer Mode". Open "Disk Utility" on the Mac. Select the connected drive. Select "Erase" in Disk Utility. Make sure format is ExFat. Select Erase.
Once completed, eject the drive from Disk Utility and then the Force restarts. Done.

Suggestion
Disconnect any other external drives from your computer before doing this so you don't accidentally erase (format on a PC) the wrong drive.
