Hello!

I was planning on getting a Audio-Technica AT-LP120XUSB for sampleing into the MPC One. The Audio-Technica AT-LP120XUSB has a built in preamp so it can send line level into the MPC One. I watched some videos and read some forums to find this to be a good basic setup.

HOWEVER, a friend of mine offered to give me very good deal on his lightly used FLUANCE RT83(Ortofon Red 2m cartridge, belt driven) hi-fi turntable. It sounds exceptionally good compared to other turntables(or music sources in general) I have listened to so I am very excited to sample with It but it doesn't have a built in phono preamp.

My question is, do I have to buy a phono preamp or would it still work with the MPC One Directly? If I did get a preamp I would probably get the Schiit Mani, but still, that's an extra $150 I would like to avoid.

I am new to turntables so any help would be appreciated :)

MPC ONE 291 manual pg 336 shows line inputs. If your Turntables have line outputs then just connect it. If your turntable has phono outputs then you’ll need a pre-amp.

I would recommend getting a small two channel DJ mixer. Analog not digital mind you. Personally I use a alllen and heath xone23 wich also has a great analog filter, always handy. ;)
