.jpg didn't work, I tried it while using your pic for an avatar to try and help you and I accidentally deleted my own avatar and can't get it back, I will eventually. My avatar ONLY changed because I was trying to find an answer for you, lol. I had some problems getting an avatar working while using https://postimages.org/ and contacted Tutor. He tweaked something and now I can use avatars again.

Maybe try a diff hosting site. That URL your using isn't a file format.

I keep getting the following error message; this is painful.
I imagine I need to check the specs on the file size.

I think the problem is that some image hosts are not providing direct links to the images, they've set up some convoluted redirection from a page on their site. As such, the forum doesn't recognise it as an image. Please post the URL to the image you want to use and I'll see what the problem might be.

I've never bothered with a custom avatar since this forum doesn't host it itself. On other sites I belong to where you can upload a small (i.e. 80x80 or 160x160 or max 320x320 pixel) image to be used as your avatar I have setup my avatar to be the Planescape: Torment - Symbol/Blade of Torment icon. It's not an image file link, it's a link to a page that also displays the image inline. If it doesn't show between BBcode IMG tags it won't be suitable for avatar use - I've enclosed it in IMG tags below, it's not displaying. You'll need a host that let's you link directly to the image file itself (with a proper .jpg, .gif or png extension)

But this is another reason why we don't host image files directly, that image is a 1.8MB file size, that's huge and not only means pages will take ages to load, but our data costs will skyrocket. I can get that down to 100kb with a bit of resizing and compression.

I feel bad now. Didn‘t check, but I‘ll change to a 1x1 pixel soon. Promised.

I'm having trouble too - uploading my first image that is... I've tried uploading 3 version so far - png, jpg, gif - no change?

It's not 600x600 or whatever - but doesn't it auto size it automatically? Is that the problem?

I can't see how to upload it from my pc - so I uploaded it to imgur - then opened the image in new tab and pasted the direct link - but still won't work? Again is it cause it's not 600x600 or whatever?

I agree that this is way harder than it should be!
