Sample to pad.

Is there any other way to sample into a pad as a drum or clip program other than using the "sample to pad" feature in the sampler? It's not the most intuitive way to sample directly to a program.

When akai made it possible to play clips they forgot to let us record them? On force you hit record tap a button, it cues off four ticks and you record for the segment before it over dubs.

I'm assuming mpc cant do that eh? or am i doing it wrong?

As far as I have seen/done... the MPC cannot record to clips... instead we've got the janky looper -> export -> assign to clip method which I don't bother with much

Haha yeah i've found that, i'm not a fan either. i didnt think it could do it but I've been known to be wrong.

Your hardware manual (MPCTuiManual.pdf) shows options on pages 175 and 194. Did you check that?

The Pad-Tap/Pad-Hold feature in the sampler is so intuitive imo.

You dont play a synthesizer with two hands though do you? Sample directly to pad in a clip program makes alot more sense than pad hold or pad tap.

The big reason is that your samples are of no fixed length you have to enter the sample editor and set the start and end positions for something that could be done automatically..

Creating a clip program shouldnt involve bouncing tracks, naming a pile of samples, and then assinging the samples to the program.

I've got nothing against the sampler but my desire is to bang out clip programs from my external gear with some sanity.

Force does this right?

Yeah absolutely it does. I've been using force to do all my recording then importing the bounced tracks to mpc. Saves me some time.
