Convert Sustain Data (CC64) to Note Length

Does MPC have a "Convert Sustain Data (CC64) to Note Length" function?

I don't know if there is a convert function. but if there was I can't see how it would work for this. Note length isn't a continuous controller and does fit the 0-127 grouping the CCs do. A note is measured in ticks. and can be any length. So a convert CC function which would be really nice would really be changing the Midi CC number. So CC11 (Expression) to CC2 (breath control) for example (This is the example I would probably find most useful myself.

Ah, you must be a true MPC-Head Neodymium. Many of the full DAWs have this feature.

I've been using midi since 93, and an MPC in the past 18 months. It's not in my DAW.

midi not length isn't a thing, nut 'note off' is. The Sequencer has the defined number of ticks per quarter note. Then a event date will ay how many ticks before sending a note off signal. A sequencer doesn't send 'note length' via midi. It could send decay, or release, but that's not the same thing.

Sorry Neodymium I'm not very modern and could not do one of those animated clips, but as a midi user since '93 I know you can remember Opcode Vision, Voyetra Sequencer Plus Gold, Cakewalk, Fruity Loops (I believe) and now Cubase (ever since it was owned by Atari). They all had a similar function. I don't have any of those installed at the moment (although I do still have a couple of the computers they ran on in storage) but here is the text directly from the Cubase 10 manual. Not trying to BS you or Akai. Just thought it could be one of those features others might find as useful as I did.

Rendering Sustain Pedal Data to Note Lengths
You can render sustain pedal data to note lengths. This is useful if you recorded MIDI data with a
MIDI keyboard and a sustain pedal, and you want to extend the actual MIDI notes for as long as
you held the pedal, in order to edit the notes later.

PREREQUISITE
You recorded MIDI using a MIDI keyboard and a sustain pedal. The MIDI part is open in the Key
Editor.

PROCEDURE
1. Select the note events.
2. Select MIDI > Functions > Pedals to Note Length.

RESULT
The selected notes are lengthened to match the sustain pedal off position, and the sustain
controller on/off events are removed.

Sooo... that's cool and all, but what exactly are you trying to achieve again? I mean in a musical sense..

Nothing Musical, Technical. Controller data is more taxing on the CPU than Note data. So when you get up around the 96 track area, erasing any unnecessary controller data is very helpful.

I work with a lot of midi and especially when editing and splicing cc data can cause issues. I agree that this would be extremely useful because you can remove a part of the equation that could cause problems while keeping the performance heard as intended. It is a little known feature in many Daws.

I ve a big issue. I m not able to record sustain pedal on MPC BEATS. I can hear the sustain effect during playing music but it is not recorded in the recorded track.

I m searching a solution from months!

Please help me

Is your automation record enabled? I suspect that's your issue.
