Support and discussion for all of Akai’s modern standalone MPCs including the MPC X / X SE, MPC Live 1, 2 & 3, MPC One / One+, MPC Key 37/61.
Well If you are WORSHIPING this guys quote no wonder you are confused.

The guy above you corrected him. You must have never used a MPC and ASR-10/X together. There are professionals up here too.

:Sigh:
The ASR is a different instrument that brings its own unique qualities and features. 2 mpc lives + a keyboard does the same as 1 Mpc live and a keyboard.

I'd argue that it depends on how one uses it and generalising that it doesn't make sense for whatever subjective reason is utterly pointless.
If someone wants to have an X + the new keyboard or 5 lives used at the same time let him/her have it, i don't get why s**t on the idea just because.
Not seeing the point of such setup doesn't mean there has to be a post added with a statement that its either this or that.

On purely technical side having multiple units of MPC means:
- more plugin programs at the same time
- faster loading if you split a project between two units
- ability to work on multiple projects at once or combining them by resampling one into other
- ability to do more crazy resampling/sound design in general
- easier live sets
- ability for more modular gear being controlled
- ability to have an mpc in every room
- ability to have multiple separate studio setups/desks at home for modular/sampling/midi/whatever
- who knows what else someone might come up with

Not every loose thought needs to be posted.

How is buying a keyboard redundant to buying a drum machine? This MPC keyboard is for people that want a keyboard sampler period, regardless of the number of beat boxes they own. Your analogy is saying because you own an ASR-10 sampler, it's redundant to buy an MPC sampler too.

See how silly that sounds?

We buy keyboards for keyboard control, we don't not buy keyboards because we own beat boxes.

They are the same freaking box! One just has keys. Your analogy is way off since an ASR would bring something different. Everything you can do on the MPC keys you can do on all the other MPCs. (This is assuming it’s going to run off the same OS which is very likely)

Just buy a midi keyboard if you need keys.

I think you're a little mixed up in the head.

The Key61 and the MPC X are not the same box, who told you that? The Key61 is a keyboard that has keys and plays sounds from it's keys, and can sample, and the MPC is a beat box that can sample and trigger them from play pads. Since when have a keyboard and a beat box become the same thing? When Roland created the Fantoms? You think because the Key61 may sample like the MPC X, that keyboard players should dismiss the Keyboard aspect of playing a regular self contained keyboard on an actual self contained workstation unit huh? People tour with and play keyboards on stage. And you somehow think they should carry a heavy load around that includes an MPC X, Midi controller, and a computer and audio interface instead just to play MPC VSTs and keyboard instruments instead of exploring what Akai has to offer to bridge the gap huh?

It's not absolutely guaranteed that MPCs will be updated to automatically have all the bells and whistles the Key61 will have for being a newer keyboard. People aren't just going to settle for an inferior midi controller when they can buy a self contained full workstation.

Never have to validate my post.. anyway if I screenshot my MPC 3000 I bought in 93 or my MPC2000 I bought in 97 I can't show my 2500 with JJOS because I was tired of the Akai crap in 2014 and sold it because i hated it and didnt like the sound converter output was low... oops I forgot I bought the MPC X the in the first 3 months of release I believe 2017 or 18 that august and still have and use everyday.. nope I never owned the the ASR-10 I did borrow one and loved it.. that being said I own the Akai advance 61 also Aturia keylab MKii.. now explain to me why I need another keyboard.. ok I got to calm down I forgot I owned NI studio when I sold my Machine studio and K61 which I hated the software and all there bugs.. and sold both to only still own the software so I bought mikro MKiii and A25.. so either I just love spending money or maybe I do this for a few dollars after working and a family.. im not a kid and understand the reasoning but please if I have a controller linked through my X also going in Cubase 11.. Now 12 once I activate my upgrade maybe I don't need it.. but oh yeah I have to screenshot my gear to get your approval smh....

Forgot still have 70 zip 100's of all my beats that I had to fix because since your a professional you know zip drives failed that is why iomega stop selling them..

This doesn’t make a whole lot of sense. If you’re a professional beat maker and already have an X buying another X with keys is redundant.

I see it the opposite. This is being built for the hobbyist. Somebody who needs the new new to justify them continuing making beats or in hopes it motivates or improves their results.

That didn't make any sense.

It seems that Akai is attaching the live to everything that comes to mind. Next MPC Dildo. Masturbate yourself with the vibes of your 808s. That is not to say that when there is a product there is always people that gonna buy it. Each should judge what they need and buy whatever they want, that's for sure. Also having that option and taking that choice is not against the idea of this new mpckeys is only an MPC attach to a MIDI keyboard. No special workstation software and workflow. As Ultros said.

Regarding the MPC Key 61, I'm pretty confident that this will literally be an MPC One/Live merged with the keybed from an MPK261, the touch strip from the new Studio and perhaps the additional I/O of the X. Just an MPC with an attached keyboard controller. Not a bad thing, it's good to have choice, but I really don't think Akai are going to do anything but effectively recycle bits and pieces of existing hardware for this (and why not). I really don't think we're going to see any 'under the hood' developments for some time, they will be happy to keep using the same boards and core components.

I might be wrong of course :)

I think 100% of the people that will buy the Key61 will buy it for the keyboard MPC sampler combination, which is why Akai created it. People don't care about it being similar to the MPC beat box already on the market, I think most people will already know it's an MPC sampler with a keyboard with some VSTs and a couple more extras, like ribbon controller and few bells and whistles that comes with it. For the people that will buy it, that's what they want. I think that's the way Akai designed it, and I think that's the way the buyers will see it. All the comparisons about it being an MPC with keys is like a Duh! moment as if people don't already know that, and as if they really care. I think when it's completed it will be Akai's greatest achievement.

There's no way anybody is paying that much IMO, for what appears to essentially be an MPC Live with a keyboard controller built into it.

If the I/O options are insane and it has an enormous amount of Q-Links and macros, then... maybe they can get between $2,500 and $3,000.

This is how I feel too, a big ass mpc with keys imo.

That we can agree upon. It will certainly find a place among professionals and hobbyists alike. :smoker:

Smart thing to do is like Apple Logic Pro did since Akai feature Bluetooth and WIFI

Logic Node:
Using a MAC all you need is a second Mac with Logic installed and an ethernet cable. On that second Mac you can then run plugins used on your Logic session on your first Mac.

So it is to unload processing from the main Mac.

Get the MPC key 61 to join the song session with the MPCX not just play in sync(Ableton link).

OR

Just one big save all MPCs file on the MPC X or MPC Key 61.

Agreed. I feel like $2000 USD or lower will be the sweet spot. Anything higher is going to be a really hard sell, IMHO.
