Agreed, we use the MPC or FORCE not just for the software/features but the hardware interface. The FORCE 64 pads/scene launchers & crossfader are essential to its operation

tbh i was just testing and the post was me goofing off heh. mpc works fine on the unit force would be a jerk to make work. the saving grace for MPC is that it has midi mapping capabilities. I can map an external controller or use one with the proper sysex commands like the mpk261 (which i dont own). force has no such midi mapping / control for transports. huge waste of time. mpc totally works good tho.

i read your article dokbrown about unity, thats sad but i wasnt ever really a fan if it. I found it painful on my eyes and alien in design. i use a weird combo of lightweight items in my x setup. xorg, pcmanfm, and openbox it looks like gnome, it feels like gnome but its not gnome its just pcmanfm magic.

oddly despite hacking every single SoC i own, i've never tried to put linux on a phone, the docs or tutorials are never for the hardware i own.

UNITY was a total failure now they are back to GNOME.
Canonical thought they could inch on the desktop/mobile market but got slapped real hard

So the MPC has better MIDI mapping than the FORCE
Good to know I picked the right machine, MIDI mapping is KRITical for me

The problem is x11. its an greedy windowing system thats a frickin jerk to make work right. weston with the wayland compisotor and working EGL would be more suitable for a linux ui on a phone. right outta the box it has touch screen capability and f you have gtk and metacity and all that crap installed you can still use a bunch of graphcal crap as well as do 3d rendering @ a proper frame rate via the direct rendering interface. it hauls ass but its a bit of a slavish thing to set up.
