looks like it does have 2 XLR ins/8 CV/ 2 Midi In 4 Out and plenty of other connections on the left hand side

I'd say the screen looks slightly bigger than the 7 inch from the Live/One as well, if you compare it to the dimensions of the 16 pads next to it, it looks more in proportion to the Pads dimensions, so long as they are the full sized pads

whereas if you look at the Live models the Screen isn't as comparable to the Full size pads,Maybe they fitted perhaps a 9 inch?

I looked on the MPC studio controller dimensions which is 12 inch depth to get a feel for the pads dimensions so give or take an inch to allow for the casing on the studio I'd say the Screen on the Keys is defo bigger than 7 inch

They are MPC One pads for sure. Look at the pads in comparison to the buttons, which they definitely didn't make bigger. Something I said since that diagram leaked.

These are the new VSTi that will be included with the Key 61, There could be others coming at a possible later date. The Set List locations can hold many Vst instruments way beyond 16. With continuing firmware updates and current VST instruments incorporated into firmware, this keyboard may have enough firepower and potential to blow the roof off the mother sucker! .. so let us all begin to descend into the sampling keyboard of the 22nd Century.

Anyone else think the MPC Key 61 is the 2022 reincarnated Open Labs Neko minus the Windows XP software? Anyone know if this keyboard will have the ability to install 3rd party plugins?

That would eat at the new version of kontakt their trying to go for, so I imagine it will be a closed system.

Not Sure if this has been asked or not.....

But will there be a MPCKey 76/88 ?

What if the MPCKey 88 has 16 Q-Links? With a MPC X Tilt Screen?

There is no indication that third party plugins are ever going to be available inside the MPC ecosystem, the opposite in fact, but this is a topic we've already discussed to death elsewhere on this site.

And as we keep saying, the MPC Key is not going to contain any unique software capabilities, Akai are not going to implement third party plugin support for only one of the MPCs. Any new software features it gets are almost 100% guaranteed to be available to all the other MPCs, because underneath the keyboard casing, it is identical to the other MPCs.

It's still quite strange that they added these new plugins to Key61 and they keep the same Soc as Live and X.
Are we totally sure about that?
Uhm uhm.
Strange enough.
What does this Fabric mean?
Something like inbuilt?

I forget which video I saw of 2.11, but when they go to the menu, there was a tab that said something like "activate plugins". So that leaves me with the sense that all of them will now have these, but behind some kind of paywall.

The app store but for AKAI. They all want a piece of that easy dematerialized platform cake.
I'm sure AKAI is making decent money on all those sample packs commissions, so premium plugins would make sense to expand income.

This makes sense. Akai should roll out their own App Store allowing third party developers to get in on the action. This would convert one-time keyboard buyers into plug-in buyers. I can’t see how Akai would benefit in any way by limiting the platform’s potential / keeping it completely closed.

I was wondering when someone would spot that, it's been in a few of the videos :)

The issue probably isn't Akai particularly wanting to keep it closed, it's just that the MPC standalone platform runs on Linux and barely anyone is making plugins for that. It's unlikely that any of the leading audio plugin developers would be interested in developing for such a limited market, so it would likely be small and obscure developers at best.

Akai are unlikely to let people just openly release plugins for it, they would probably want to ensure quality control and security etc. There's probably very strict limits given the CPU constraints. If they stick with Air Music they have full control and also minimise costs.
