MPC Key 61: New FCC Filing From Akai

Somewhere someone was saying that new CPU didn't even line up with the connections on the back of the keyboard...

Can somebody point me to the official Akai announcement of more RAM and a faster CPU please ?

All info is from the pit bull audio leak. There’s no mention of cpu increase, just ram, it’s very likely the same cpu, no change

"Over 6000 cutting-edge presets" of which 1500 are from HYPE, of which 500 are recycled versions of the same sound drowned in way too much delay and reverb.

I think CV/Gate doesn't affect the total audio IO , it's different hardware

I notice there's no mention of an SD card slot, can't see one in any of the images. I wonder if the internal 32GB SD is set up like the current 'Internal' disk and not visible from a computer (i.e. cannot copy content to it nor backup content), or have they now configured it to be readable and writable while in computer mode, hence no need for external SD cards.

Very interesting. It would be very strange if Akai marketed the MPC Key 61 as "You have 32GB on-board storage, 16GB of pre-installed content, and if you save your projects to the internal drive, you don't have access to them"

As confirmed as any 'accidental' retailer leak can ever be. But 'accidentally' leaking product pages just appears to be all part of a standard marketing strategy these days, and likely 'accidentally leaked' with full blessing of the manufacturer.

Just remember, the existing 'DrumSynth' is actually 9 individual plugins (hat, snare, kick, multi etc).

A lot of stuff can be mapped to an external midi controller too... you can get a lot of knobs, faders, and buttons pretty cheap these days, and then configure them any which way you'd like.

That's the thing though, people want to buy a product like this as an all-in-one workstation, just like the MPC X having plenty of Q-Links with scribble strips. That's what folks expected from this, an elegant and feature-packed offering for the price point.

Once it gets to this price point, why not a Fantom-0?

Keep in mind that today's Akai Pro has never made a decent keybed. The MPK have always had a nasty, springy action, so they're not going to be the first choice for serious keyboard users.

Well, in a workstation where I can use multiple instances of plugins and keygroups, I expect to have at least 8 outputs.
And with 8 qlinks all is faster, as Force shows us.
And while I play keys, I need to be fast.
I know, compromises.
Strange ones though.
