The last update was downloadable directly to the MPC via WiFi.. I wonder if this one will be also, or will it be the old USB method?

Since 2.10, all updates should now be available over the internet via Wifi or ethernet, I believe it checks for available updates immediately after booting up.

Went from 2.10 to 2.10.1 via wifi on the X. Smooth update, works like a charm.

Cool. I plan to connect my MPC live to my phone in mobile hotspot mode, since the connection is faster than my house dsl.
I usually refresh the MPC live main product page like mad on release day when a new update is due. Is there a better way to get the word asap when the update is available? Or is this just what everyone does? A text or notification would be awesome.. maybe I just need to calm the f down

Akai eventually send out an email whenever there's a new firmware, but social media is the best - facebook, here, reddit etc. Sometimes you'll get people who work out the URL to the download link as Akai often use predictable naming, so it's possible to get something before it's officially announced.

Like all the previous updates, it’s a good one but it’s also still missing essential sample management features like copying, pasting, deleting, tags and favorites. All the harddrive support in the world isn’t worth anything until files can properly be managed. And to add insult to injury, they added a favorites browser to plugins, which originally were an afterthought to a sample program-based system. By now, I actually find the lack of sample management a bit offensive to long time users who came for the ‘core MPC experience in a modern machine’ experience.

To be fair, it is ridiculous that you can't move files around or copy/paste etc. But it does seem like they are now to prioritising 'ready-made', quick-load-make-music-fast stuff like plugin presets, expansion kits, all-singing FX plugins etc. Who needs boring old file management when all the content you end up using is there in the sounds or expansion browser? They'll remove the sampler soon, no need for sampling when you can just directly download from the inevitable 'inMusic Sounds Store' or fire up an omnisphere style rompler plugin. I'm not against offering all that stuff, especially as it's extra income (and hopefully there will be a way for third parties to get involved), but don't forget there's plenty of people who will still be using a sampler to sample and design content from scratch

it's almost unbelieavable that we don't have a proper management of sustain loops in keygroups too. any decent multisampling full fledged sampler has it, damn, even jjos2xl on a 1000 has better sustain loops than the new modern line of mpcs! c'mon... the other thing that drives me nuts is the time signature lack in main page and the convoluted way to manage different time sigs now. bonkers. that said, i'm obviously anxiously waiting for this new release because there are a lot of interesting additions (especially probability and ratcheting). but hey akai pro... please fix the basic stuff sooner or later!
