Support and discussion for all of Akai’s modern standalone MPCs including the MPC X / X SE, MPC Live 1, 2 & 3, MPC One / One+, MPC Key 37/61.

I’d bet it will be an X retro maybe with a bump in cpu and ram like the keys. they’re just sharing whatever parts they’ve already hoarded so as to not actually improve. Having an extra 2gb of ram will do very little for the experience unless they start bringing out bigger plugins or some shit but to be honest I don’t need tons of ugly plugins. I wouldn’t bank on anything impressive. I’m sure it will be a big song and dance about it though. What does the X even need? 16 outputs? 16 banks? 64 q links? bigger ram means they can actually charge more money rather than giving the disk streaming they said was coming. I think im becoming a bit jaded to this gear game.

It would be nice if it had disc streaming. I don't know what it is really, but since half of the forum members here are b*tching and moaning about it's omission as if it's some kinda crime against humanity that Akai hasn't implemented something which they never said they would... Let's just put that sh*t in the MPC XL for the sake of the blood pressure of that half of the forum. And for the general atmosphere over here.

On a personal level? I don't know, I would love a regular X but it's too much for me. Let's just hope it has a tiltable screen, but since the X already has that I assume a XL would also have that.

The point is not that.
If you make a key61 with more Ram and plugins, you also make X obsolete.
Right now X has less power and less tools compared to key61 but it's still more expensive so the sellings of X will go down immediately.
So from a marketing point of view, the launch of a more powerful key61 means that we have to wait for the launch of a new X that has same power of key61, 4gb ram and all plugins.
My only question is about Live and One.
Are we going to see an upgrade of them too?

It’s where you don’t HAVE to load samples into ram to use them. They play directly from the hdd/ssd/sd/usb (whatever media).

And when X xl comes ‘round I want it.

I want a Live XL.

17 Pads? interesting......

Honestly, it this is gonna be "XL", I want to see at LEAST 16GB RAM. The new plugins are great, but it would be incredible to run all 16 at once. (We might even be getting more free or paid plugins in the future, so makes sense to support more than 8 at once)

Same here. As it is, I think my Live is finally starting to show some signs of illness heh.

I've had my OG Live since the first week it was released. Only in the last couple months have I noticed it "ageing". Battery finally doesn't last as long, q link knobs falling off, touch screen not as responsive, just weird glitches and issues ive never had before

Im sure it still has years left and I plan on riding it to the grave (so many memories with this thing and songs that have been made + Im sentimental as shit lol). I dont want a Live 2 because of the extra size (stupid speaker :WTF: ) so maybe Ill have to dip into the used Live market eventually..

My Live MK1 is actually doing well for its age, the battery still lasts as long as it always did, just need to replace the pads ASAP. The used Live market is pretty good right now, I scored my second Live MK1 for $550 USD local pickup off Reverb.

MPC X XL is a dope name but I still want an MPC10000 with Roger Linns Signature on it!

It just doesn't make sense really what're do u need now for processing power and ram any limitations use your X in standalone and your DAW as a sound mod and record directly to it.. it would be nice if they were able to give u more outputs in standalone.. that's all I want..

This is axeactly what I'm doing with my X. Got the RME Fireface UFX II yesterday and now I can stream 16 channels into my laptop and proces those channels with high quality plugins.

Exactly what I do. Got me a x32 compact, a umc1820 and a patchbay. The x32 is my main computer mixer and the uphoria is the One's interface. Now I can hook everything and route everything in and out. Use usb midi, with my synths and use my computer and ipad as sound modules and/or recorder.
The x32 is very flexible in terms of routing inputs and outputs wherever I need them to.
