Hello all. I own a MPC Live (2.6) since 2 months.

Tomorrow I'm making my first live with a rock / funk / synth trio.

I've made a project of about 100 sequences with 9 full tracks, with the ability of switching each song part and play mainly drums , additional keys and to sequence my bass synth by midi out.

I've made some submixes to use all the separate output for amplification

There is about 6 drumkits, 3 keyboards program , and two plugin program

SUBMIX 1 : all kicks to Output 3 after compression
SUB 2 : all snares and clap Output 4 (no effects)
SUB 3 : all the rest of drums to OUPUT 1& 2 (no effects )
SUB 5 : all keyboards (internal and external via input 1) sounds and plugs to output 5&6

I've made some RETURNS FX : reverb delay disto and phaser on SEND 1 to 4 , that I send from each submixes as I need

Everything was ok since my last rehearsal

My problem is that Snares and claps doesn't appears to go to Submix 2
and the rest of drums also for Submix 3

BUT : the sends keep working from each Submixes !!! , also do the separate outputs .. . So it's something like a bug that make that I just can't view the Submix modulation, neither get to mute Snares (SUB 2) or "rest of drums" SUB 3 as I would like to, with the QLINKS assign I made and worked well until now .. Of course reboot and reload didn't change a thing... I've reassigned all pads to all submixes (!!! long f...g work), it started good but at a moment, Submixes 2 and 3 stop to fully work

Have you a clue of what I can do to getback my submixes =-) ? It's for tomorrow night so any help very welcome !!! It's a very big project so not easy to restart from scratch

Thanks a lot

Thanks Cockdiesel ! I got it after hours of testing, by the same logic as you ... is there anything consistent on these submixes ?

I put it there because it can help

---> When you use Submixes, you can't monitor it or mute it in the channel mixer page if it doesn't have at least ONE ACTIVE INSERT effect.

I had bypassed my effects on last rehearsal and so , the MPC decides that submixes are useless without effects, and this crazy software doesn't keep monitoring it, and therefore, no gives access to muting ( neither with automation nor Qlink) !!

That's why :

my sub 1did work and monitor (it had an effect)
my routings where working (e.f the SUBmix 3 with effects bypassed didn't monitor or mute but was send
on the good separate output)

And so , to keep my mutes and submixes monitoring I had to put back the effects, with no Wet at all :--( can be very bad on project with lot of Memory in use

And spend time to find the solution :)

Glad you got it. I was just asking questions to see if I could wrap my head around what is going on. I would have never guessed that. Might save some dudes a big headache figuring that out. I’m sure you have it covered but you may want to make a template for your work flow so if something happens again you can load your template, assign the programs load the sequences and your back in action pretty quickly.

Good luck with your show.

Yes I did reassign all my pads on 6 drum programs and tried to rebuild the project from start (Akward)
BUt the solution was fairly simple : If you use submix, put an effect on it ... Akai logic ;-( This is so cool to be able to mute submixes of all my set up with the Qlink !!

Cockdiesel I will for sure make a template, but I started by backups until tonite !!

On the other side of things, I feel the 2.6 is good as I have my project with everything responsive and now i'm confidenfor my livegig : when there's a problem , it's not a bug, it's MPC logic :) Think different blablabla =)

The band(s name is @Jawohl mi Amor , if interested :)

If you don’t need submixes then why care how to route pads & programs to submixes?

Pads -> Submix.
Programs -> Submix

Submix can also mix the 4 Sends into the path -> Main..

Hi!

You can route anything standalone /

It's in PAD MIXER and CHANNEL MIXER menus. Use the "ROUTE" tab in the lower right corner.
There you can route pads, full programs, audio tracks to any submix or physical output.

But in previous versions (did'nt test in 2.11 ) , if you did'nt put an FX on insert on submix, signal was routed directly to the submix output's, so workaround was / or is/ to put a bypassed fx on the submix so you can use it anytime.

Thanks a lot i found everything. Only downside is that changing programs changes the whole routing. Wished there was a way around that cause most if the time i just wanna load up some drums and instruments. But having some groups can still make the workflow mich faster.

if you save programs apart (or with the project , within the "project data folder" ) they are loaded with their routings correctly assigned... So anytime you put a new program in a project, quickly route the pads or the program to the submixes, and after saving project they keep these settings on load...
,you can browse them directly from other project data folders.

With muscle memory, it can be very quick to assign kicks to SUB 1, snare claps to sub 2... Route the program to submix 3 ( for hats / cymbals, toms, extra percussions... ) .. So every sound of the program goes to the submix 3, and only kicks and snare to their respective submix... With the time I 'm quite fast to assign new programs to this scheme
