Did the midi input behavior change?

I bought a MidiHub to set up an advanced external arpeggiator that I can control through a midi program and qlinks.. I've been smashing my head against the wall for 2 days trying to get it to work. Using a midi program track

I send midi from MPC din or usb out> to MidiHub in
MidiHub out > to MPC midi input 1
On a plugin track I set midi input 1.


When playing recorded notes from the midi program track it only works if I route the midi program track 1 to another midi program track 2 and then use the "send to" option to the plugin track 3. But when pressing the pads on midi program track 1, the plugin track won't respond to any external midi inputs.

I also tried the old trick of looping output from MPC to MPC input port to trigger the internal arp but to my surprise it no longer works.

I can see that the MPC sends and receives all the midi data from the midi monitor page but the plugin track won't respond to any midi input unless it is in focus. I have tracks set to multi arm but I still only get midi input on the tracks in focus. Am I missing a setting or did Akai gimp the midi functionality to how it was working before? Is multiarm bugged? I've cycled through practically all combinations of Auto/Merge /In settings to no avail.

Any ideas appreciated. I don't want to have to ship the MidHub back to Lithuania..

2 minutes after I posted this I actually figured it out. For some reason a midi track will not trigger the input track even though the midi notes are being received. I'm guessing it has something to do with pad perform.

Instead of routing midi track>midi track din/usb out> send to plugin track.

I routed midi track send to>drum program din/usb out>plugin track
Now it works flawless. I think.
