Hi

Im looking to buy either a Live MK1 vs Mk2

Ive just been offered a MK1 for £400 or Mk2 for £700

Im wondering if the Mk2 is worth the extra £300

Sorry if its been asked before but i cannot find any comparisons of the 2 around

Thanks

Not many differences, the biggest are the CV/gate outputs for analog gear and a few more buttons for quick access on the mk2.

Had both.

The extra buttons and speaker are really great on the mk2, but you won't miss any other functionality (bar the aforementioned cv)

What I'd be looking at is the age of the mk1 vs the mk2.

it really depends on your values! they both are capable of doing the same exact thing but obviously they both have slightly different features as everyone mentioned above.

i prefer the live 1 because i value the smaller footprint, lower weight and thus easier portability. i dont value the speaker as much because most of the time i am on my headphones or on a speaker anyway. i also don't use CV in my set up and don't mind the fewer buttons because I got used to the quick shortcuts using the SHIFT button and all that. so it really is a personal question. both machines are equally as capable so you won't be missing out on anything at the end of the day.

Thanks for the replies guys

The MK1 has been owned from new and is 4 years old apparently and looks in v good condition

Does anyone know when they were discontinued and is there away of finding out the manufacturing date for it ie Serial number?

Unsure about the Mk2 history

The only reason that i would buy the Mk2 is for the buttons so i dont think the extra £300 is worth it

Thanks

Production of the Live MK1 stopped quite a bit before the MK2 was released, as stocks started to be spun down months ahead. Even if that Mk1 is only 4 years old, it's at least a year older than the Mk2 - and that lithium ion battery has a finite life. Personally i'd grab the Mk2, as I've had both and could never imagine going back to the MK1. But I find huge value in the speaker, the additional buttons, and having the main volume knob on the top where it belongs. YMMV...
