Hello everyone and thanks in advance for your answers,

I am considering to buy an MPC Live (one or two) for live performance with my band and there is one crucial piece of information which I don't seem to find anywhere.
My plan is to perform using Song Mode, creating all my songs by combining my pre-programmed sequences in there and letting them play while we perform.
Given that our show is based on strict song arrangements yet the length of the sections may vary following solos lengths etc. I need to be able to jump in on the fly and change/edit the songs arrangements, for example to repeat a certain section for 8 bars longer.
Is there a way to do this with the MPC Live ? Is it possible for example to freeze the sequence that is currently playing until I decide that the normal song arrangement can continue?
I suppose a way to achieve this would be an on-the-fly switch between Song Mode and Next Sequence Mode.. is this a possible thing to do without any interruption?

Cheers
E.

Why not play around with MPC Beats beforehand and try it out? It could work, but you could first try that with the software. It mostly reflects what you can do standalone.

Thank you, that's an interesting answer. In fact I have tried quickly and it seems like it's not entirely possible.
It is possible indeed to have a Song play in Song Mode and then switch without interruptions to Next Sequence Mode and have the sequence which was playing in Song Mode play on. It isn't possible to switch back to Song Mode though without stopping the playback. It could be perhaps a workaround to change the number of Sequence Repetitions on the fly without leaving song mode, in order to edit the arrangement live. No idea how easy or intuitive that is though on the actual machine.
If anybody could check if the workings of MPC Beats in regard to this topic are similar to the hardware it would be dope !

- What about creating seqences (e.g. Intro, vers, chorus, etc) duplicate the sequence if required (2nd vers, 2nd chorus etc) and use a footswitch to start the next Sequence.
- Set "Sequence Duration" to "To Sequence Length" - this allows you not to be precise in timing, but switch as you please - next sequence starts if the current ends, what ever it takes to complete - or not doing so will repeat the current. So you can concentrate on the performance.
-EDIT: Last one should be with Looping switched off - for a clean ending
- To make it not to obvious, get a Bluetooth footswitch - should be a Sustain switch, as it will not toggle, but just send a message - or you might end with not knowing what the current setting is (on/off) - very likely while performing ;-)
